Ian Holloway on Chris Wilder

Good article. Point deducted for saying Mousset scored 'against United'. Points added for spelling Lundstram correctly, and saying that Wilder should stay at the Lane because he and the club are such a good match.

I like old Ollie. Not just because he has always seemed to genuinely like us, but everything I ever hear about him is that he’s an absolutely top bloke. One of the people in the game I think would be great to sit down and have a few beers with and let him tell some stories.

“It would be lovely if he stays there and builds the club into something special”

This is the bit I like. By something special I think he means Wilder might just be starting a era at the Lane where the club could go into win things over a period of time.

Like great managers of the past have left clubs with a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten.

I'd be happy for Chris to set up a era of just constant Premier league football with the club able to invest in its facilities. That would be a fantastic legacy too! Not as heroic as a cup win but look at Wigan. Won the fa cup which obviously is a magical day out but no long term legacy.

This!

I still get annoyed by his name as it casts my mind back to that bizarre rant where he blamed the EU for the new hand ball rule and remember getting annoyed as it was the day I realised that whatever logic, stats and reasoned arguments you throw at Brexiteers; they will just make up their own arguments to blame the EU anyway.

5/10 for me.

Agree, Bladder, a little silly to blame the EU...…..

But you can always blame the French or the Germans. ;)

I don't think anyone can 'copy' wilder tbh. How many teams can/will ever have an intelligent tactician managing the team they've supported and played for? Almost zero.

"It’s his hometown club. For him there’s no better job anywhere else in the world at the minute."

Fixed it for you Ian. :D
