Blades are set to sign Ian Harte according to the Daily Star, so it must be right!!

Hmmmmm i hope not. I dont think that signing an aged player like Ian Harte would appease the supporters who are already annoyed by the sale of tonge and the lack of immediate support.

Surely if this is the best that can be done then there is something seriously wrong somewhere. Not sure this will go down well

EDIT: He is currently a free agent following his release by lavante, Therefore would be a very cheap option, and would provide cover. Although "cheap" isnt considering his wage demands and signing on fee

He has been training with us from time to time I believe, but thought that was more to do with him keeping fit than being on trial.

He's had various trials at championship clubs recently.

14/Aug/2007 Released by Levante
29/Aug/2007 Signed by Sunderland
04/Jun/2008 Released by Sunderland

Surely being released by 2 clubs in just under a year speaks volumes

Scraping the barrel if you ask me

app goals
1995–2004 Leeds United 213 (28)
2004–2007 Levante 56 (4)
2007–2008 Sunderland 7 (0)
1996– Republic of Ireland 64 (11)

The defender left Leeds for Levante in 2004, but injury problems during that time meant he only made 66 appearances in total and subsequently quit the club by mutual consent in August.

Harte, who was renowned for his expertise from free-kicks, won 64 caps for Ireland and scored 11 times.

I can't understand why we would want to sign him.

Seems a strange move if it were to be found out to be true,

Same owd United.

Same owd Wolves, Leicester, Ipswich, Watford and Norwich.

Except for at least 2 of them had offered him a deal and we haven't as far as we know. He's just been rumoured to be training with us.

Like Foxy has been saying, its common knowledge hes training with us. I personally cant see it being a permanent deal, more a temporary arrangement while he gets fit.

Toon trip for Blades
Posted on: Mon 22 Sep 2008
Keith Gillespie and David Carney have both been included in United's reserve team that faces Newcastle United on Monday evening, kick-off 7pm.

Former Republic of Ireland left-back Ian Harte and Frenchman Seb Carole are also set to feature. The duo have been training with the Blades in recent weeks.

United were 4-1 winners in their last outing against Macclesfield and travel to the North-East looking to get off to a winning start in the totesport.com League Cup. The competition is run on a round robin basis.

Blades: Annerson, Walker, Harte, Travis, Chanot, Lowton, Gillespie, Wedgbury, Carole, Law, Carney.
Subs: Chapman, Haber, Tahar, K. Quinn, S-Latef

I'm more worried about whether he can cope with the long ball and physical style of the championship when his stats says he's only 0.95 m !!

Equal opportunities for the vertically challenged :D

Maybe we're branching out and having a Dwarfism team.
