I am also a very concerned Blade. Let's hope things change soon. Can't see us getting anything at Palace, Scunny or Ipswich during Feb though. Hope I am proved wrong.

The thing that concerns me is Palace's experience in relegation battles. I see them as being our main rivals.

No, I think we'll be ok. Clearly it will be close but I've seen enough to be very hopeful we'll turn it around.

Its the hope that kills ya :)

I would imagine we can stay out of the bottom 3, right up until the last 5 minutes of the Season

Dont get me wrong .
Thought in the first half we played some great stuff ,but we sadly look like a side that cant make its own luck ,cant change the way a game is going and like I say over the last 40+ years Ive seen enough relegate(able) Blades squads to know one when I see one .
Thats why I am useually upbeat about our prospects becuase I can generally see a way out ,this lot though ,and I include MA and AC just dont inpire me ,Hope I am wrong .

I've been saying the same as you since that awful night up at Hartlepool in August and though the dynamics have changed somewhat I still believe the end result will be Division1 next year.
We've given ourselves half a chance with the appointment of Adams and the return to the up and at em style, but, a team that can't make its own luck has only one fate awaiting.
I believe we are bringing in an experienced Championship defender before the end of the window and maybe one other body too, these may be the deciding factor on whether we can escape by the skin of our teeth, but as of now I think its written in the Gods that we will slip through the trapdoor.

LOL. I remember thinking "we're down this year" after going to Hartlepool. And I've thought so most of the year. The season's passing and we're still struggling so we're right to shit ourselves. But I've got more hope now than before because I see some spirit back, and a desire to win games rather than avoid defeat. And I think the manager knows what's required - time and resource being against him.

If we get to the last game of the season needing points we'll be relegated. Something all Bldes will agree on.

If McCabe feels the responsibility that he should for overseeing our demise, he'll find the cash to avoid this. Then write off his debt and move on ASAP, making way for someone who cares about football.

I think it's got relegation season written all over it, but i said a while back it might not be too much of a bad thing as it will give things the opportunity of bottoming out, give us the chance of building a squad of our own players, not loan players and we might just come through the experience a better club.

I've thought that at some point, but not any more. The players we have are enormously overpaid with many contracts going past next season. Nobody is taking them off our hands. It makes rebuilding extremely difficult. It makes affording them on a League 1 budget impossible.

"We're doomed!" Rubbish!

We've 19 games left - that's 57 points to play for.

We now have a good management team in place - the best for several years. We have a squad which - whilst not world-beaters - has sufficient quality to grind out enough results to see us safe. Adams is actively looking to add to the squad.

We've had some unfortunate injuries. We've also had some shocking refereeing decisions go against us in vital games. Surely the pendulum must swing our way sooner rather than later and we'll put a few wins together.

This season has been hugely disappointing so far, of course, but predictions of relegation are way off the mark. It wouldn't surprise me if we finish in the top half of the table.

Surely the pendulum must swing our way

McCabes not sure about this, but he is going to build a Gigantic Clock Tower to put it in, then sell shares in it, Reverse Takeover it into another Company, list it on the Stock Exchange, ask Biffa what Colour Clocktower would be Fan Friendly, Privatise it, Lend it Money but not take any Interest, Hang Fireproof Flags on it, Do things the Pendulum Way, have a Pendulum Forum, Employ a Clocktower Communications Officer, Buy the Clock Tower for a Pound.

When some one points out to McCabe that we never actually saw a Pendulum, he replies, Hrrummppphhh blame those Pesky Agents

Swollen ................nail on head ! ........ 11/4 best odds i can get reight now

Well said that man. All this talk of relegation serves no purpose other than to bring the mood down and ultimately will just be self-fulfilling. Saying "I told you so" if we do get relegated is not helpful at all. 57 points left to play for. The fight is far from over.

A couple of things:

1: We're not going to go down

2: Anyone who thinks going down might "sort us out" in any way wants their head read. Even one of the top six clubs in Europe are struggling, lurking around 12th place. Other than watching us at some new grounds there is absolutely nothing that being in League One that will bring any benefit or sense of joy to the table.

Given the realistic prizes on offer to 99% of the football world, watching us on new grounds would bring a real sense of joy to some, me included. But it's not a price worth paying, agreed.

If we can turn Saturday's performance into results then we'll have no problems. It looked like we were the team going for promotion yesterday and not Norwich.

We'll be fine.

If it goes down to the last day of the season then I think I'd tend to agree. I'm still hoping we can put a run together and be safe by early-mid April.

It's the defence plus goalkeeper that is my big concern. Again it was sloppyness that cost us, this time two mistakes from the keeper contributed to the defeat. At least the two new lads looked like they knew how to defend but we need a proper experienced centre half to hold it all together. Not convinced with the Argy at right back either, he seems quite happy to drift out of position and his idea of marking his man seems to be five yards in front of him - shoudln't defenders always be goal side? For me Kozzy or Lowton should be right back.

'The Argy at right back' is doing fine ,are you Rob Styles ? You would really pick Kozluk instead ?

Opinion is what it's all about. I'm really suprised you'd concern yourself about the RB position after seeing the new LB yesterday.

If it goes to the last day of the season, we're f**ked, end of.

Not because its Swansea Away, but because if relegation is a possibility on the last day of teh season you can be sure United will grasp it with both hands.

I can only think of one occasion when we didn`t (92-93), and even then I think we'd have had to lose 4 or 5 nil...

We could be playing Sheffield High Schools U13 team on the last day and still conspire to throw it away...

Leon Britton is going to score and send us down. It's obvious, isn't it?

More obvious than Craig Beattie.....

Thanks Raul. I had completley forgotten about him. Now he's front and centre in my memory, hands on hips, not jumping for the ball and complaining about non-existent fouls by the rough Burnley boys...

I must admit to being very worried after Saturday.

Played as well as we have done all season and got nowt from the game. That's not good. When the ball isn't running for you (i.e one Norwich CB smacks the ball into the other and it disects two Blades and falls to the FB) then it's hard to see it turning around.

I said many times under Hoofy that we played poorly and got results due to excessive luck, we are now in a cycle of getting less than we deserve from games. That said, I can actually see what Adams is trying to do which is more than can be said for most of the last two years, so all is not lost.
A match fit Marcus Bent alongside Evans, a match fit Williamson meaning we have someone who can spot and deliver a pass in the middle, and someone to engender some pace and skill on the wing (Christ knows who though) and we'd be OK.

'The Argy at right back' is doing fine QUOTE]

He has settled in exceptionally well despite limited English apparently and a very much scrappier game than he is used to.
If he has any improvement left in him then he will be a very good asset.

With that defence? I can't see it myself.
