I understand why Campbell Ryce has been on the bench...

JCR's crossing was poor yesterday but overall he has looked quality for us. He consistently beats his man and adds much needed pace and direct running to the team. His MoM performance v Rochdale was the best I've seen from a Blades player for a while.

The decision not to pass to Basham yesterday was shocking - and Clough or someone should have a quiet word with him as that could have cost us.

But for me he's one of the positives this season and I'd certainly put him in the starting line up.

JCR has to start.Atleast if he plays we know we're going to be on the front foot and be a lot more adventurous going forward,or would we rather see us sit back like we did after we scored, and nearly end up giving a match away in which we clearly deserved to win as Bradford had shown hardly nothing up until then.

I much prefer to see good attacking play and we will only see that when players like JCR plays, like someone refers to earlier,he's always going to have an off day delivery wise but that's exactly the reason he's in our league and not an higher one.He also relieves so much pressure off the defence and that can only be a good thing.

But does drag two defenders out of position every time he has the ball because you know he is going to beat someone thus creating gaps elsewhere...

But doesn't pass the ball into those gaps and runs it out for a throw in.

I like JCR, and I think he should start, he is far more influential than Flynn, but that non-pass to Basham was enough to sub him out on Saturday, ridiculously greedy and would of sealed the game.

What I cant understand is how poor his passing/crossing is in general.
He's obviously quite talented, but can't complete the 'simple' thing,I'd have thought by now NC et al,would have sorted that out,as he was a lot better in that department after the break.?

His crossing was very good at the Chesterfield and Orient matches

My team for tonight would be (assuming all are fit):-

Howard
Davies-McCarthy-McGahey-McEveley
JCR-Doyle-Wallace-Murphy
Baxter
McNulty

Tough on Scougal but I think a Doyle-Wallace partnership in centre-mid looks a better bet than Doyle-Scougal. Tough on Basham who played well on Saturday, albeit first time this season. McNulty banging on the door with goals and performance has to get the nod over Higdon who hasn't done much this season, certainly not enough to come straight back in after suspension. Davies over Alcock due to better distribution in wide areas. One of the reasons for me why we've struggled to score at home is the poor crosses into the box, with Alcock being the main culprit.

I wouldn't drop Alcock. He's assisted 2 of our 7 league goals at home this season.

I don't think his crossing has been noticeably poor - but maybe I'm just bad at remembering these things. He doesn't get too much opportunity to swing the ball in as JCR isn't one to just drop the ball back, he'll keep going until he's beat his man.

People are dismissing or ignoring the fact that if you play JCR IT has the imediate advantage of pushing the opposition that little bit deeper because they are worried about his pace, the rest of our team are pretty one pace and this means opposition defences play higher up the pitch as they are not worried about anyone getting in behind them, with a quick player on the defenders tend to drop deeper allowing more space for the likes of Baxter and Murphy to get involved higher up the field in more dangerous positions.

I would always start JCR with the current squad.

He seems to be one of those players who has got better the older he has got.

He once didn't score a league goal for 5 years.
