I hate forest

I can't say I hate Forest, I don't think about them much, but I do work with a bunch of them as our HQ is in the East Midlernds.

One of my favourite moments of the last few years is my ex boss, at the end of a management meeting, going " bloody hell, we've sold Robinson to Sheffield United, I can't believe that", and me saying, " when the big boys come calling it's hard to say no , Barry". He wasn't impressed, tee hee😀

I seem to remember it quoted that if coal had received the same subsidies as Germany then for every bag of coal, they could give it way along with 5 quid!

So I'm not sure that the mines losing money hand over fist is all that accurate. Plus you have considerations of impact to the local community which isn't black and white.

It's typical neoliberal economic dogma that has hollowed out the country and decimated manufacturing and primary industries and turned us in to a service/finances based economy (that went well btw 🤣). Despite it totally failing the country you still have people supporting things like closing the pits and de industrialising Britain.

A quick look at Germany and China should show them the error of that logic, but they'll never admit it. That's without factoring in the lack of pre planned transition to other industries, the environmental impact of importing the same energy from around the world, the poverty pay the people there work(ed) for (that's alright then?). Not even the wider economic impact of shutting the mines is calculated by this logic:That being the huge increase in crime bills, welfare bills etc etc etc. Not to mention the human impact. A strong argument can be made that subsiding coal was a vast net profit for the UK economy and would've continued to be so. Credit to the miners that clubbed together and made a successful go of it themselves.

There'll be pig fans flooding their forum imminently to tell them how horrid we all are and that they'll be fwiends with them if they want.

Both have European glory years in common in their history so it would be a good old knees up if they got together!
Was the pigs euro experience glory?

They beat a team of office workers then got dicked by the first proper team they met

Some right fucking wankers on here what the fuck is up with Nottingham people why the hatred I’ve worked with them on and off all my working most of them are sound ok have a bit of banter and all that scab shit is bollocks
Study a bit of history mate.
They scabbed in the 20s/30s ('Spencerism') and they scabbed in 84/85. It's in their blood.

They got lucky when Cloughe fell out with the Derby board and only their fans and the Geordies, can come anywhere near the S6 levels of 'big club" delusion.

After Wednesday, forest are the team I despise . I live down here and work with a few and they really are horrible people. Blades also should not forget the play off game and Billy getting jumped by the idiot. The pitch invasion taunting .
I'm in my 50s well travelled blade and I used to hate Leeds as my second football hatred but forest are way above them now .
What blades don't know is they actually hate us after Derby .

To be honest I’m not too keen on Derby either.

I'm setting myself up for a lot of grief here but...I genuinely don't get the Forest hate. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy getting one over on them, and I like that it's become a sort of rivalry over the years, but I can't get my head round the idea of putting them on the same level as Leeds, or the pigs.

Is it all just to do with the match in the playoffs last year? Or is there something else? Admittedly I don't have any interaction with them, other than one of my best mates, who is a thoroughly reasonable bloke and has no truck with their supposed arrogance and such.

All my football-supporting life I've seen them as a very similar club to us. Similar sized stadium and attendances, maybe underachieveing given those factors. Their big days are far, far behind them, they're a yoyo prem/champ club at best, so why all the hate?

Not trolling, just genuinely curious why so many of our fans have such a massive issue with them.
Having lived there, I really don’t think it’s just a football thing. I’ve never met anybody down there who ever had a good opinion of Sheffield in general. In 90s and 00s when Nottingham was a thriving destination city, my neighbours and workmates used laugh at me good when I suggested Sheffield was a great place to visit. There was always a sense of aloofness towards Sheffield and South Yorkshire. So on my very few visits back there, it’s satisfying to see Nottingham city centre becoming the crumbling “shithole” they always used to accuse Sheffield of being.

Indeed. I work with loads of Forest fans. Born in Sheffield, absolutely no one I've ever known was a miner and the same for most of them. It's all a bit of banter now isn't it?
Yeah, that exactly right. Scabs? They don’t like it, so that’s what we call them…Simple as that.

Newcastle have averaged over 50,000 15 times this century, whereas Wendy haven’t managed 30,000 once in 55 years.
No one comes close mate.

Just take the aggro and use it as rocket fuel.... Let competing with them in the same division, be part of the reason we stay up!!🔥

I have lived in Nottingham for years and like us the vast majority of Forest fans are normal, decent supporters. Yes they have a minority of idiots, but isn’t that the case with us ?
Generally I have found that fans all over the country are much the same, simply supporting their local team as we all do.

They are not the same as 'other supporters', they are scabs.

Always have been, always will be.

Bit of a non-story apparently (according to Forest fans ect). Payments to be made at the end of August, also some claiming they're just "promised to pay" and nothing actually proving they will

Transfer ban. Points deduction.

Or would it not be fair on the fans? Remember them? The twats who invaded the pitch and attacked our players!

Apparently, those set of twats at florest are in trouble. not paid agents and transfer fee installments hope they get a significant points reduction.
Don’t believe everything you read !

What is that truly awful kit by the way!? Fans of Adidas from our time should take note at that, is that their latest attempt at "stripes"? I know Forest are not a side that plays in stripes but that away shirt has stripes and irrespective is an absolutely awful kit!

As for Forest, I've got a good mate who's a Forest fan, but that's not really a barometer for Forest fans as a whole is it?! I lived in Nottingham as a student but you're mainly with other students so my experience of Nottingham folk was limited but if the people I met I liked County fans over Forest. There's a clear distain from Forest fans to Yorkshire, I didn't experience that personally in Nottingham as a whole but again limited experience of Notts folk. I remember when I graduated (with Desmond 2:2) I thought I'm bot gonna stay in Nottingham, just never did it for me as a city. Great to be a student there but not a patch on Sheffield and would rather live anywhere in Yorkshire including Leeds over Nottingham.

Back to football and I'd be interested from fans who are older than me whether there was a rivalry with United and Forest in the early 90's when we played them for the first time in a while? I'm too young to remember but did start following United in 1989. It seems the rivalry has got more heated as the years have gone on if anything!? I think from their perspective they've never liked us after we beat them under Warnock in 2023, and from our perspective the manner of the defeat last time out with fans etc, as well as the Yorkshire miners side (not that there's many Blades who are ex miners I wouldn't imagine!). I just don't like them as a football club and that's despite Clough as a manager (a proud Yorkshireman as he often stated). I much prefer Derby over Forest, just never felt that there's much reason to dislike Derby County.
