None of that will make any difference whatsoever as long as Weir insists on playing one up front in this league.
He has stated categorically that this will not alter.
What he fails to realise is that teams at this level get results by being better organised and playing to a pattern that suits the individuals in the squad. Indeed they are often set up to counteract the very system that Weir is employing. If this were not the case then there would never be any shocks in cup competitions. The very best teams that have the very best players usually don't drop a bollock against a lesser team but there are plenty of occasions where a decent team loses to a third or fourth tier team.
Teams are playing us like its a cup match. You see the pattern all the time. Teams set up to nullify us (not hard since we don't get into their defensive third too often anyway) soak up some early "pressure" and wait until we look as though we don't believe anymore and the crowd is restless. Then they get a bit more expansive and work on our defenders who invariably drop a bollock and were behind. They then know for sure they have won because the tactics remain the same, one up front. We may replace an attacking midfielder with a defensive on but we won't, on principle, go two up top and chase the game.
Teams with lesser ability in individual players find it quite simple to counter act a team set up like we are, especially since we have no better ability in our squad than they have. Weir's game plan of adopting the FIGA coaching manual and painting by numbers, is based purely on hoping for individual brilliance where absolutely none exists.
