I asked my old mate at Barnsley his views.

This is what he said

"Our manager, who is a nice bloke, but having managed over 1,000 games appears clueless, tactically, in team selection and in transfer market or I don't understand the game. He said this season we would not go down the loan player route and would play the youngsters. We have signed as many loan players as you can, youngsters only played when injuries necessitated. We have used, by January, more players than any season in the club's history. Most of transfers have not worked, it has taken until January to get a target man and a decent tackling midfielder. Away from home we play loads of attacking players but play 4 5 1and defend! Back four have to play out of their skin every match. We are painful to watch and will finish mid table at best which is below the quality of the players.

Marty Done. Came from Rochdale with Keith Hill. By January Palace offered us 500,000 and rumoured upped it to 750,000. We turned it down and at end of season let him go for free! All crowd would have snatched their hand off. Funny player, small, lightweight, but quite sharp. However to me he was like a schoolboy, ran into space all the time and asked for ball, but in a position where nobody could get it to him! Hence hardly touched ball. O'Grady works really hard but refs don't like him and he has little skill and is painful to watch. My missus hated watching him play!

Only good sides I have seen MKDONS and Swindon."

All I'd say is that he knows his football.
