Gary Lineker made a joke about Sheffield United but not everyone saw the funny side

There was plenty to enjoy for Sheffield United fans tuning in to Match of the Day last night, after the Blades marked their Premier League return with a late equaliser, but Gary Lineker’s joke fell flat with some.

It’s match of the day, not newsnight. I genuinely can’t get my head around how serious some of our supporters are taking the sports media generally. It’s not like he’s done a ‘Fat Ron’ or called Billy a fat little shit.

Thoundsands of united fans excited to watch our club on motd for the first time in over 12 years, just to be mocked by the presenter, not really hard to understand why some are upset.

I think ‘mocked’ is a bit strong. Are people really that sensitive in Sheffield these days? People seemed to have broader shoulders when I lived up there.

I thought it was a genuine mistake when I saw it, then found out it was on purpose due to the aforementioned tweet exchange.

I literally didn't care either way, as it's the only time Wednesday are getting mentioned on that show this year anyway.
 
Just me who wasn't bothered about what Lineker said? He was clearly trying to make a joke from his Tweet earlier in the day and even if he wasn't, it doesn't change the fact that it is Sheffield United and not Wednesday who are in the Prem.
