Huge Clearout and Huge investment needed

Howard is not the commanding and confident presence that we sorely need between the sticks. I don't think he's bad. Several times this season he's pulled off cracking saves when not protected by his defence but I don't have the confidence in him that he can command his area, especially at set piece time which is where alot of teams in this league will aim to score from.

As attested to earlier in the season, Long, sadly, is not up to scratch for League 1. Like the lad and want it to work for him but just doesn't cut it.

Nige has to look for a more permanent GK, with Howard as back-up, but sadly might be time to sell on Long to League 2/National League.

For me the club have caused this entire situation. Not picking on Collins (for once) but I think he was signed by Adams in the relegation season, the last of the relegation squad. That being the case he's worked under 5 different managers plus morgs as caretaker.

Add into that the fact that many of the players played under Wilson, weir and clough it's no wonder the players are struggling with commitment!

In simple terms many of the squad are more than capable for this division, but the club has to stabilise. Now that we have Adkins I sincerely hope he takes us up this year, but if not he needs 2-3 seasons to sort the team, including contracts.

I don't think 'investment' of the transfer sense is the answer, but getting players to play within an Adkins and therefore Sheffield United culture.

It's alright Phipps and Adkins drumming in the in it together and wisdom of geese message (see bollocks) like a hashtag on a tweet, but the top management need to buy into this long term commitment to develop the playing staff

If we throw away managers and players every time we hit a stagnent patch we'll continue to progress from two steps back every year.

This dodgy patch was entirely expected and predictable. Just like the football we play at the moment

Using some data Foxy had put together, a while back I compiled a list of who would be at the club at the start come the start of next season:

John Brayford
Keiron Freeman
Chris Basham
Dom Calvert-Lewin
Paul Coutts
Louis Reed
Stefan Scougall
Matt Done
Marc McNulty
Che Adams
Billy Sharpe
Diego
Martin Woolford

Much of the dross will have gone. We may have to wait for next season for Adkins to be able to craft a side to get us out of this division.

But surely in the next few weeks when those missing in the team now return to fill that list plus 1 or 2 loans we have the capability-
All clubs fare better when their best players are in the team

At the end of the season, when it's looking like we will still be a third division side we need to get rid of of the following

Long.... Never going to be good enough
Mceverly.... Shit
Alcock....Shit
Collins....Finished
Kennedy... Crock
Baxter... Too inconsistent
Basham... Not good enough
JCR... Pound land Franz Carr
Woolford...Shit
Flynn.. Finished
J Wallace... Crock
Coutts.. Crock (and shit)
K Wallace.. none league footballer (ie.....Shit)
Sammon... Not good enough

All the above are never going to get us promoted, we have a manager whose record is as good as you can get at this level but you can't make bricks without straw they need replacing and for once replacing with better, not worse players that's where the serious investment needs to come from.

I was right, a gob shite.
