The VAR team already had the power to give the goal so what should they change?

In the meantime i have no confidence anymore in any of the tech used in games it is all flawed.

Until they abort the system they are using and begin using what is used in International Rugby Union then i will have confidence.

Dont say it will disrupt the game it takes too long,Wilder already told you this week he and his team were kept waiting 10 minutes for the No Goal desision at Spurs.

I just cannot get my head round why the VAR guy(s) didn't even check the incident... there were TV replays within 30 seconds showing the ball was over the line.

They literally chose not to review or look at it. They chose not to say to the ref "have a look at this".

It's not like the TV replays came 5 minutes later at half time when nothing could be done. The evidence was there for VAR after 30 seconds.

This time we only had the camera angle because GLT wasn't working... but that should still be enough for VAR to see immediately and make a call... or ask the ref to look at it and make a call

I don’t think the goal line tech was working! Hawkeye won’t tell anyone the truth? + plus, has far has I know there where No VAR decisions made during the game even though there might have been 2 penalty shouts.

The tech, is to ensure fairness when when the referee makes an error, it didn't.. That's the issue..

To be pedantic, it's nothing to do with fairness - the tech is there to ensure decisions are correct.

I think I'm more cynical and see the PL primarily being more about money. Only at the end of the season - if the "goal" has multi-million pound ramifications that the PL must contest (and possibly compensate as this foul up is their own responsibility) will we see the PL act.

If their cock up ends up costing millions via the courts - then I could see them changing guidelines or even ordering a replay.

Money counts for the PL far more than fairness or sporting integrity.

There's no rules to change. Whatever the facts about Hawk Eye, Tierney had an easy job and failed to do it for whatever reason.

I find it hard to believe, but then maybe not, that it has never been discussed in referee meets about what do with VAR if Hawk Eye failed one way or the other.

Staggering how people get top jobs and give such little thought to obvious risk mitigation.

I think it doesnt need any more comment but as time went on its quite evident, Goal Line Technology wasnt on/working, VAR wasn't working - they had nipped out for a kebab early before the rush (sound familiar ! ). It was only working in one half of the stadium thats why they keep mentioning 7 cameras. Should really be 14 in total 7 at either end.

My understanding is that there are 7 cameras focused on each goal mouth (14 in total) and that 2 cameras of each 7 must have clear sight of the ball to be able to give an accurate answer about the position of the ball. It seems to me that only 1 camera got a clear sight of the ball BUT the Hawkeye system was unable / not designed to pass a message to the referee to say ‘not able to confirm or deny it’s a goal’ so the referee in effect got a ‘no goal’ message. And the referee and the VAR operator wasn’t clear thinking enough to figure out what had happened. What’s really disappointing is that Hawkeye / VAR / EPL seem to have decided that no change in ‘the system’ is required.

If this is the case I'm very surprised there hasn't been a problem before, a lot of goals will be scored when there are crowded goal lines and a few will have keepers and defenders dragging the ball back from over the line.
