I was curious to know if anybody knows how many season tickets we've sold so far??
My local team Norwich have sold 21,000 which is pretty effin impressive. The wife is one of them as are a few of my pals. I'm gettin ribbed that we won't sell nowhere near that amount, so, i have to remind them that with their local derby being against a team 47 miles away WTF do they expect!!
UTB :)

15k with cheap as chips still in charge.............. miricles do happen :D

The doom & gloom merchants were wrong then. There are some true Blades supporters out there that actually want to cheer on the team rather than moaning & griping. Hopefully we'll see the back of the whingers this season and everyone will get behind the team for once. I can only hope.

14,500ish.

1500ish down on the same period last season.

A couple of decent 'ins' may bump it a few more tho. Come Blades!

I agree, 15K at this stage given what's gone on and the apparent 'vast majority' wanting Blackwell out shows that the support is still there despite the doom and gloom. We may end up being 2-3,000 down on last season by kick-off and it's then down to the team but looking at 20,000 plus average as a start point is encouraging.

Why is it encouraging? What does it encourage? Won't make any difference to the team, the revenue won't be used to fund player purchases, so why does it make any difference whether we have 10'000 or 20'000 season ticket holders?

The ratio of knockers to clappers will stay the same so don't think there'll be 2-3'000 less moaners there because that aint how it works. In simple terms it just means there'll be more empty seats and less revenue, and that can't be encouraging no matter how you dress it up.

:gallop:

Its encouraging for those who want to take encouragement from it. It's not encouraging to those who want to be perpetually miserable.

Personally, I simply shrug my shoulders. Its not something I care all that much about because I cant have any impact on others.

The ratio of knockers to clappers will stay the same......
Firstly, how do you know this? Or is it another one of those great statistics from the scientific thinktank known as "totally made up on the spot"?

Secondly, you can't really tell me that you have managed to get Sheffield United supporters so neatly categorised that they fall into one of two distinct groupings? That's a right old load of bollocks. What about the middle ground? Oh, sorry, we aren't allowed one, are we?

It's encouraging because many of us thought there might be fewer season ticket holders.

But you knew that didn't you, you thin rascal, you?

;)

We are about 1,500 down on where we were this time last season.

A couple of new faces and the confirmation of SS should see the last years figures reeled in.

Firstly how do you know it isn't, do you have facts and figures to back you up also? Or are you just being a good boy sticking up for the clique, and winding that nasty Big Mart up in the Ayatollah's absence to try and get a reaction and a full blown naughty boys ban this time ;)

Secondly, are you David Clegg? The fence sitter, the one who sits and nods and doesn't sway either way because it may offend, because that's what you're intimating, that some just go and watch any old shit without caring either way, how sad :tumbleweed:

As to.......

Are you on medication? Your recent posts would suggest that all's not well in the cranium department :loopy::confused:

It's just that I was in Harrogate yesterday scoffing a fat rascal and I thought of the comment I made many moons ago to a certain young lady about you being a thin rascal. She found it hilarious...

Now don't tell me your cranium department is letting you down

:D

Oh dear.... Norwich have (allegedly) sold more season tickets than the Blades.

I don't know how I'll sleep tonight.

Clique? I see only you in this conversation attempting to group and categorise.

Trying to wind up and get a reaction? is that what having a differing opinion to you is?

It really is simple, decide to be a dick and abuse people = infraction. It has absolutely nothing to do with who the person is, but their respect (or lack of) for others and the rules.

It's obviously bad if we lose any numbers, but good that it isn't the mass walkaway that people suggested.

No, I don't know that it isn't. I simply asked if you can prove it. If you can't fair enough. I haven't asked everybody who will be coming next season for their views on the matter. I'm not trying to wind you up, I just wondered how you knew what the ratio of support would be. You've not asked everybody, have you? You've not asked me, or any of my mates, so I would surmise that you don't know for sure.

No, I'm not Nick Clegg, or David Cameron either, or at least I wasn't the last time I looked. I'm just suggesting that there might be some middle ground between "clappers" and "knockers", those of us who aren't entirely satisfied with the way things are going but reckon it could be a hell of a lot worse. Just because I don't witter on about it in every post doesn't mean I have no opinion. I do care, but if I don't have the same point of view as your good self then it seems that I am either a fence sitter or a clapper.

And if you want to call me names while the "Ayatollah" is away then feel free. I personally think you're a bit of a bully, constantly shouting down those who have the cheek to venture an opinion that might not toe the Big Mart party line. But if you want to have a strop then go ahead.

As to.......

And given the past history your entire collection of posts I could suggest that you only post while the care home staff swap your window for a different flavoured one. But that would be nasty, so I won't.

Blimey Charlie, I only meant that sales being around 1,500 down and not the 5 or 6,000 some were predicting was encouraging

To me, it just shows that things aren't as bad as the pessimists have been saying, the general support is still there for the club (regardless of who is in charge) and without checking, at a higher level than it was before we were promoted. Of course a new manager would make a difference to sales as would the odd player, but it's obviously not that much of a deciding factor for around 90% of ST holders, which is encouraging :p

"you only post while the care home staff swap your window for a different flavoured one"

now THAT made me laugh - kudos to SV

ease up on BM - he's much misunderstood - here's a quote from his biog:

BIG MART
Senior member of the MBB, if there's a "phobia" or an "ist" going, this man has it.
This Vitara-driving ,Tourette's-sufferer's pet hates include tolerance, liberals and flying. Beneath that tough guy exterior lies a gentle giant, or there would if he was tall enough.
If you spot his Lime Green Vitara around town give him a wave. You can be sure of a wave in return using less than three fingers.

Pretty much bang to rights with that I reckon, although it did miss the bit about me being rocks and gorgeous ;)

Bloody hell, a million points rotty for digging that out.:D:gallop:

I'm amazed that we are only 1500 down on this time last year given the current circumstances. We have a gaff manager, the squad is thread bare and doesn't have nearly enough quality and we had a torrid season last year. Still credit to the fans for sticking by the team. It also appears that a number of the 'not renewing until KB goes' have not stuck to their guns. I guess the next month will decide a lot. i should imagine there are a lot of fence sitter who may buy if we make a few decent signings and take a few more positive steps.

As I think I posted at the end of last month, we won't make any major signings until July because players are still under contract and/or on Holliwags.

What I would take form the ST sales figures is that these forums aren't that accurate as a measure of the fans views in general.
