Strange old question that after we beat Spurs 3-1, go 7th and are mathmatically safe this season.

If we were 16th looking over our shoulder then maybe a timely question to ask.

It’s a journey in this league just love to be an established mid table club in this league

Why when we've done more than that in season one? Wilder is about continuous improvement and the board so far have backed that ideology. Wilder may not say it but he's a winner and will want us to improve on this next season.

How far into the 14 year cycle are we? Just checked only 3 years,

The big question for me was the ownership battle. If that is now sorted (..maybe?) then we've overcome a big hurdle.

Next season will no doubt be tough though. The pandemic will undoubtedly affect a lot of things, so throws a fair bit of unpredictability into the mix.

Each to their own, but why settle for mid-table? We're not in this league to make up numbers - we're here to win the Premier League.

I’ll be more confident once we are playing in front of crowds again. And when (if) we eventually do go down I don’t think it’ll be due to lack of ambition at board level.

That’s never going to happen pal we are an unatractive city and an unattractive club just face facts wish it was different but that’s how it is

I think we will match Arsenal's current record of 101 years, sadly getting relegated in 2121 to a last minute own goal, being replaced by our big rivals Sheffield FC.

As we've spent a large majority of the last 45 years outside the top flight I really hope we'll remain here for at least a few decades to come as that is what I feel us long suffering Blades are owed - but unfortunately football (or the footballing Gods if you like) don't work like that so who knows?

Agree with the principle but Leicester and Wolves on the verge of establishing themselves as a top 8 club
abd we’re a more attractive city than those 2 and as attractive as a club.....so it is possible.

Anyhow I think you should always have lofty ambitions and strive to perform high.
If we target top 8 then we’re more likely to finish mid table.
If we just plan to survive that’s when relegation becomes more realistic.

Weren’t Southampton establishing themselves as a top eight club a few seasons ago under Poch and Koeman? It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Wolves and Leicester when Nuno and Rodgers move on.
Only the big six can say they’re safe from relegation. We could stay in the PL for five years plus or we could have a run of bad luck and injuries that could put us in big trouble one season. Things in football can change quite quickly. It wasn’t that long ago when Stoke were looking to ‘go to the next level’ and that ultimately led to their relegation.
Personally, I think we’ll be OK under Wilder but every season our first priority is to stay up and we won’t finish each season in a higher position than the last.
