How do you say, something is more serious than it seems, without seeming ungrateful?

We've been over egging the pudding for ages. No problem in LG 1 but it is now. It's not about shooting wildly from 30 yards just getting good ball into dangerous positions much quicker on more occasions. Funnily enough we tend to look like scoring, coming close, hitting the target or scoring when we do.
We desperately need to convert possession into more goals. This would help defensively as well as conceding the odd goal wouldn't induce panic backs to the wall reargurd stuff with everyone dropping deep and no outlet ball.

Chris said after the game that we should have got the ball in earlier, so i guess the "fannying around" hasn't come from the dug out but from the players. It's getting easier for oppo's defences to deal with. Get 2/3 men at the near post to cut out the low hit cross (when it eventually arrives) and bob's your uncle. Anyway, Chris is a brilliant coach and will sort it out.

Ungrateful git! ;) No I agree actually mate especially regarding us getting the crosses in earlier. I’ve posted this myself on here and on other media.

If when we’ve finally worked the perfect position to put in the cross it usually created a scoring opportunity I could accept it but it rarely does. Basically the I think only Duffy is good enough on his day to pick a man out or put it right in the danger zone time and again. With the likes of Bash, O’Connel and the wing backs it’s usually hit and hope, so an earlier cross could so no worse and would at least reduce the time opposition defenders get to set themselves. I bet Billy would prefer it if we crossed the ball earlier occasionally.

I’m not advocating that we should take the early cross all the time, just let’s mix it up a bit, if nothing else it will make us a bit less predictable and keep the oppo guessing.
Exactly! Mix it up a bit!

A couple of signings who can finish, and who can provide pace and physical prescence, might well see us top two for the rest of season.

We all should know by now that CW & AK have developed our style into what it is because that is how they want us to play. There are only two things they would sanction from here, better coaching & better players. They are not going to change just because the fans want more goals, they want more too of course but they will not sacrifice their principles by going to a different style. Anyone who thinks there will be massive changes of our system is going to be disappointed I am afraid, blimey we are two & a half seasons into their stewardship & the upturn has been both massive & magnificent in that short time, but I doubt very much if they think we are anywhere near where they want us to be, it takes time to perfect a system & of course there will be hiccups along the way. Coaching, fine tuning & better players if the current ones cannot do what is asked of them is all they can do, apart from abandon this course & start again, & no-one wants that, do they?

I think shoot on site is largely an American phenomenon.

I think you meant 'shoot on sight'. I am not aware of many blind professional footballers about in the English game so should be no misunderstanding with that one.......except if you are a Yank. :D
You durn got me on that one! I am talkin ‘bout when we play the offense strategy . Maybe we should have the trainor attend more so we can have a time out before we have to pay more attention to the deefense!

Or maybe in my haste, I inadvertently made a mistake! My bad

Never almost apologise......

I think that’s a very good point about going through the middle a bit more. I’d not mentioned that, but it’s an obvious one. The majority of the time we are looking to move the ball across the box. It would be great to see someone run straight down the throat of the defence, directly at goal. Laying it off if they absolutely need to.

Can’t remember which home match it was now but a few weeks ago Duffy robbed a central defender and ran straight down the middle before unleashing a shot into the bottom corner. That’s what I’d like to see us do more of. We don’t have to abandon our passing principles, but there’s a time to pass and a time to grow a pair of horns and be a right selfish bastard and go for goal. We need to address that balance imo.

That'd be Duffs v Villa:

I agree. Just have a go, the crowd won't get on your back.

We are top of the league in terms of xG. For those unaware, xG is a measure of the quality of chance created. So in other words, no side in the league is creating better quality chances than us at the moment.

I'm not referring to a one off game, I'm talking about the whole of the season so far. That means we are consistently creating a higher quality of chance than every other side in the division. If this trend continues, we'll win many more than we lose and likely finish top 2.

I know we all want to keep improving, but Wilder is right when he keeps pointing out how far we've already come in such a short time. I really don't know what more people expect with this side on this budget. We're a brilliant side to watch, we're winning very often, and on this particular metric, we are the best team in the division.

It's about opinions etc, blah blah, but people get on my tits sometimes.

Yeah, but..... gerrit forrard and shooooot.

Oh, and spunk some money McCabe, thi tight bastard.

Yeah, but..... gerrit forrard and shooooot.

17 minutes before I heard a "gerrit forrard" on the Kop Friday night.

Three moaning old bastards sat behind me, complaining at every fucking little thing. My favourite was when one of them said "O'Connell's free, give to to O'Connell". The ball was duly rolled back to JOC, as requested, and then immediately the same fella goes "oh come on, go FORWARD". What the fuck?

I've been out of the country for a few years, but I've been to every home game (and a couple away) since I got back in early September. While I've been away, the culture of the club has been transformed to one of a legitimate passing side, who - we all acknowledge - plays good football. So what have these people been watching for the last 2 and a bit seasons? Seriously? Do they not realise that our current style actually WORKS? You can talk fancy metrics that prove it works all day long, but even just by looking with your own eyes you can see how far we've moved on since we adopted this approach. Just look at Wilder's record. Look at our league position.

But hey, let's just gerrit forward. Just head it and kick it, as Warnock used to tell Shaun Murphy.

Hindsight is a glorious thing . But players have a nano second to decide to shoot or lay off . In that time they assess if someone is closing them down from the front the side or rear and see if any one of his team mates is the better option.
Ditto about the decision time of midfielders
