Seriously. We are in 8th position in League 1. We rarely score two goals in any game. This Spurs side have got out of jail thanks to two moments of brilliance from Erikson and a lucky involuntary handball for a penalty in the first game.

The team of overpaid non-achievers ( apart from Erikson) hardly worked our keeper in 180 minutes in open play. We scored two goals in open play.

We were always going to lose over two legs, but I'd ask those Spurs supporters in their adulation of their players. How come they were so ordinary and got out of jail frankly. Our annual wage bill is £4.5m per annum. What is yours? That Eriksenn earns that doesn't he? What if he had been injured or suspended. What about the rest of your big time charlies on all those salaries you lads are funding. My season ticket is £260 a year, what are you paying to watch those charlottans?

So frustrated that we left that back door open. Kayne played his first good ball of the night, Erikson makes a good run and a perfect finish. End of story. BUT is that what you pay all those players all that money for. The rest of your squad were crap. Even our man Walker was only average. I think you have neutralised him. We sold to you an enterprising attacking wing back who caused the opposition all sorts of trouble. He was a bit naive defensively but his pace got him out of trouble. We've watched him develop with interest and at Villa he was realising his potential. Since he came to you he has been neutralised, it's like he is playing at 50% throttle, always within himself, never playing to his potential.

Thought they were outstanding first half and could have been out of sight with better composure.

Their performance dipped in the second half because we improved so much.

Think Kane could well be the proper striker England have been missing since Shearer. Amazed how much he's improved.

Any team from League 1 and 1-0 down after the first leg has to play defensively and keep in the game. How many saves did Howard have to make before and after the goal? We were always going to get at them if still in the game after an hour, and in truth we shouldn't have been still in the game.

It wasn't an involuntary handball, it was deliberate. Handball is the only rule which has to be deliberate.

I don't know what point you're making. They dominated the first half and we were poor to tell the truth. They made poor decisions and hit the ball straight at Howard a couple of times, but they certainly werent 'bad'.

I thought Spurs controlled the game 1st half and looked like they would score every time they came forward. 2nd half they were poor but quality football for their 2nd goal. Can't see them beating Chelsea but good luck to them. Their fans sounded very loud in the 1st half.

WTF. I suppose Chelsea are a truly dreadful team then?

Spurs easily dominated the first half, then took the foot off the gas gradually. Sure, they're not exactly on top form at the moment but they were pretty comfortable all game until we scored.

The way i see it , Spurs did deserve to win , but we deserve the praise . After the Ched shit , Mr Clough and players have raised the profile of SUFC in a positive manner . ( about football )

Back to league 1 and the task in hand.

The grapes are very sour.

You gave it the big UN and promised us an atmosphere lilke no other.
But you only sang when you were winning or had a chance.

Piss poor to be fair.

Time to crawl back under the league 1 stone.

No need for that. As you can see most people have been complimentary towards you. We were not in the game for 70 minutes ( bar the Murphy chance)

Anyway good luck in the final.

Lister, you'll read fair comments on here, and yes we are a league one side, who had a player that panicked in the first game, and a team you drew with tonight, where a couple of 17 year olds almost, ....almost... took you out, do it with style in future, we have another forum for people who know nothing about football...

Hope that's honest enough for you, good luck in the final..

To post that minutes after reaching a Cup final, and when the board is full of praise for a quality Spurs side and their fans...

...I can only conclude that you're significantly mentally ill.

Good luck with that. :)

Well done you. Now fuck off.

Stop being bitter Woodwardfan, Spurs are quality and bossed most of the first half. We did very well to get in front on the night and were much better in the second half. I think we got em worried but I always felt they could maybe step it up another gear.

Spurs won over two legs which were played the right way . Two bloody games of football.

I thought Spurs could have stepped it up , but that is the benefits of being a top premiership club.

Game over , enjoyable time , experience , memory .

Top six now metalblade.

Lister , you are out of order. We are all praising Spurs and are gracious in defeat.

Just to let you know i work at GCHQ.

Well both sets of fans were fairly tense and contained to start with - so you're right, at first it was disappointing early on and not the norm for such a game at the Lane....then you cheeky bastards had the bloody gall to score first which given the way the game was going looked like it would kill it off..... we'd said it would be cracking if we'd got in front first...but hey, can't argue with the result really... I'd have hoped for a better response from you, but whatever...still be shouting for you in the Final.

I have been a season ticket holder for 15 years and at the moment I pay £865, lower tier, East stand, it is a joke but that's football these days, it's a business and money talks. I remember being a club member late 80s early 90s and paying £1.50 to get in, how times have changed. In regards to our squad, there are lots of players that are not good enough and your right, they are overpaid no good Charlie's, Eriksen has been the best one and he showed that tonight, we were hoping that a few will f--k off this transfer window and get 1 or 2 in but our c--t of a chairman thinks we are good enough. A few of ours played well tonight, stambouli, Kane, walker, Eriksen, dembelle, mason ran his socks off considering he has just come back from injury, Kane toyed with your defence at times and deserved to score. Feel free to ask anymore questions WOODWARDFAN,gladly reply.

Come on, own up. Who the fuck turned the forum twat filter off?

We have another thread which rates our players' performances. Let me give an honest appraisal of the Spurs player performances:

Vrom 7
Walker 7
Davies 7
Dier 6
Vertonghen 7
Mason 6
Dembele 7
Stambouli 6 ( couldn't remember him TBH)
Lamela 5
Erikson 9 ( only thanks to two vital instances, albeit match winning)
Kane 6

This was not a high performing Spurs side tonight, given a 1-0 first leg lead after which we had to be circumspect. They cracked under pressure once we made our move with our subs. Their winning goal came out of the blue and avoided a difficult extra time. Our chance was there despite losing that vital first goal and it didn't work out.

Some of those players cost a fortune. They are very poor value. They got out of jail and I don't see anything wrong in saying so. Sour grapes, of course it is, how else should we feel? That winning goal was the last thing we expected. Call it "stepping up a gear", that's so, so kind.

In answer to the OP 'How bad are Spurs?' The answer is 'not bad at all' and we risk looking like a Conference team who have been beaten so resort to sour grapes.

It's not that we weren't good enough, Spurs were too good. Even watching them warm up you could see class and athleticism throughout the Spurs team. Lamela in the first half was unplayable. Kane had a quiet game by his standards but, on the break, Spurs look capable of inflicting serious damage on most teams.

Totally proud of the Blades tonight. It took us an hour to come to terms with the speed of the game but what a comeback. Some bloody heroes out there tonight.

The 'Clough Project' is on course. Imagine a Martian visiting Hillsborough last night? Dump ground, swamp for a pitch, poor and indifferent crowd and rubbish team on the pitch. Then he directed his star ship to BDTBL tonight. WOW! Crowd, atmosphere, performance, everything. It's obvious which Sheffield team are going places.

So good luck to Spurs in the final. I think you'll need it. Just as Hull were too good for us in the FA semi last season, we knew Arsenal would be too strong for them in the final. As so it is with us tonight, and Spurs up against Chelski in the final. 'Dare to dream' appears at WHL, and there's nothing wrong with dreaming...

So adieu, Spurs. Some good banter on here and another 'one of those nights' at The Lane.

Kane has toyed with a lot of premier league defences this season and scored, in two games against ours he failed to. Good luck in the final though against the plastics.

Lister, read the posts, the majority you will struggle to disagree with. Your post lacks class and is not in keeping with the majority of posts from Spurs fans for the last few weeks. Keep your dignity.

I will ask you a question, and seeing as you've been a footy fan for years, given that we are in league one with a team full of kids and the odd journeyman, how did you like our football, because we used to hoof it, confirm that you were surprised by our play, i personally just think we need to be consistent over 90 mins, but we will get there, in short, did we play the right way, and was it a surprise for you guys.. just wouldn't mind knowing how you saw it.

Spurs are a very good team.

I think we should just be proud that we had them on the ropes for a good ten minutes in the second half and nearly won the tie.

For the majority of the match it looked like what it was, a Premier League team versus a League One team. In terms of the stature of both sets of players it was like a team from 1955 playing a team from 2015, they're players looked huge and much more athletic than our lads.

Out of all the bigger teams we've seen off in the cups these last two seasons - including West Ham, Southampton and Villa - only one has threatened to outclass us and that was Spurs tonight.

Agreed. That said, I had to smile when Kane in the last 5 mins twice took the ball to hold in the corner. They definitely had a fright those last 10 minutes, but over the two legs their quality beat our graft.

To be honest Tezza, you did not surprise me at all, we knew that it be a tough game, when the draw came out we was all cheering but deep down we knew it would not be easy, in regards to the way you played, you played well, well organised, not sure about your striker though, I know he has banged in a few goals but over the 2 games, he did not impress me, I think Murphy is yr best player (think that's his name) winger up against walker, you should of fed him more, I think yr a striker and a creative midfielder short, WHEN you get promoted I am sure clough will get the right players in.
