How about "welcome and good luck"?

Welcome back Forte and Robson, all we ask is 100% commitment and hopefully the rest will take care of itself

Because we are in deliberate and systemic decline and goodwill to individuals who will not be here long is irrelevant in the face of the calculated, shortsighted, and wholly wrongheaded dismantling of our future prospects.

Exactly this. Years of blindly supporting whatever shite is thrown at us has brought us to this. There are clearly many who've just had enough of the same downward spiral.

I will blindly support whatever runs onto the pitch tomorrow night - safe in the knowledge that if they are much above average for England's third division, they will be off at the next available opportunity. Seemingly out of the reach of Sheffield United, and more than I should expect.

But welcome anyway, for as long as it lasts.

good luck to forte (and Baz) but I thought we had learnt our lesson about signing players on loan

It's all about getting the right players on loan which some on here don't understand. The problem with United is that we don't sign the right ones.

Forte, we let go because he was not good enough, and here he is back again. Our Billy, Clive Mendonca and possibly others all went, came back, and were, to put it kindly not up to snuff. Surely we could and should have done better. Having said that I will support who and whatever they put out in a Blade's shirt, being well used to The Blades Way,

Many fans thought we were in "deliberate" decline when Wilson signed. We finsihed the season with 90 points and scored more goals than Man U.

Give the lad a chance, you can give Danny and Kevin a dig onother thread and I will be right with you

only because a certain striker turned out to not be shit after all. without that fluke, how many points would we have got?

He was moved on because he wasn't good enough for a club challenging for the top of the Championship. I think you'd agree that the situation is a little different now.

We couldn't get out of the third division though, after being in the premier just a few years before. We are much worse this season. Can anyone seriously argue that the club is not in decline?

It is deliberate in the sense that any meaningful investment from our owner stopped a long time ago.

As well stated in other threads today, means exist to provide clubs with funds that elide or evade the new financial rules.

Our owner has chosen to embrace the regulations as a fig leaf/alibi, rather than creatively address it, as other clubs have.

Of course you would have to be insane to suggest McCabe was intentionally destroying us. It's just that he has created a situation where his strange short-termism is having exactly the same effect.

Blades boss Wilson is looking to strengthen his squad following the departure of leading goalscorer Nick Blackman to Reading and is close to signing former Scotland international Barry Robson, who left Vancouver Whitecaps earlier this month.
Wilson revealed he had been keen to bring Charlton's Wright-Phillips, but had cooled his interest due to finances.
"We remain hopeful of realistically bringing in one or two players before Friday's game (against Coventry)," Wilson said.
"Bradley Wright-Phillips was on our radar, but isn't anymore and that's because of costings.
"We have to be realistic and we can't bring players in who will take us over the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP).
"There is nothing is the rumours about Mark (Duffy) of Scunthorpe United, we have our wide players already at the club and Lee (Williamson) was tremendous for us in my time here, but times have moved on and so has Lee."

we turn more and more into an episode of fonejacker every day.
all we need is terry tibbs on the phone to buy our used teapots.

Yaaaawn

Sorry Matt - you are within your rights to be happy with the signings. Whatever today's outcome, it was always going to be so though, wasn't it?

Personally, I think fans like you (rather than I) are becoming the problem - but that's another matter.

Fans that slag the team off at the first opportunity? Fans that boo the players off if we're losing? Fans that sarcastically applaud or laugh when a young keeper collects the ball after previously making a mistake? Fans that leave 10mins early? No. None of them are the problem.

The real problem are the fans that get behind the team in difficult situations. Fans that chant the young keepers name shortly after he makes a mistake to gee him back up. Fans that have faith in the manager because he gets paid to do a job we'd love to do. Fans that realise we have been mis-managed in the past but still get behind the team and help them back to succesful times. Yep. They're the ones that are the problem.

If I knew how to roll eyes smiley on my phone I would.

Fans like you are the reason the players have no confidence.

Football chairmen are egotists. They don't like public criticism. They hate it within their own club.

You are welcome to applaud the perpetual flogging off of our best players, and the replacement with has beens on 3 month loans. But your confusion between supporting your club, and standing aside and cheering as our chairman dismantles everything is quite obvious. I think the reservoir behind your ears is leaking fella.

And FWIW, I don't do any of those things you suggest Matt. There are few fans who support, and support the club in the way I have and do. You get to judge through the window of an internet bulletin board.

Not sure I understand your point here. Are you saying you can't judge people by what they write or saying I don't go to games so must judge the team on here?

The former. You can judge my opinion on the workings of Sheffield United from here. You cannot judge the support that matters.

Well let your keyboard know what you're thinking then because it clearly thinks you want to slag them off at the first opportunity regardless.

Yes we've sold the highest scorer but, JTW = 1 out 4 in. We needed strength and depth. We make £1.2m but because we don't spend that on a player everybody judges that as going in McCabes pocket.

Surely a wise man can see that by making a massive profit like we just did and increasing the turnover we are then allowed to pay more wages i.e. sign 4 players for the price of 1.

I'll class that as check. I'll call mate in a few weeks when the results have picked up ;)

Blackman, Philliskirk, McAllister that is 3 out in my book of the four that have come in one is permanent, one is a loan and the two old uns are short term deals to the end of the season, seems to me like 3 out 1 in with any profit on Blackman making up the wages for the old uns last payday.

This is one of the reasons why our beloved club won't go any where. By pretending noting is wrong, the players will just think everything is OK. The chairman, as well as the players and mangers should be told the hard truth. If it wasn't for us, they wouldn't be on their wages. They are very lucky bunch of guys but because it's football, they have confidence problems and can't be told the truth. They should grow a pair.

"Bradley Wright-Phillips was on our radar, but isn't anymore and that's because of costings.

Im fucking sick of this excuse.
Tell me DW & Mccabe. Who now remains at this club that is such a drain in finances?

Not forgetting the early termination of Cofie's loan deal to make it a JTW of 4 out, balancing off the 4 in!
