Some of the recent decisions, statements and tactics from Hecky have a distinct whiff of Nigel Clough‘s “you start with a point and the first priority is not to lose it” philosophy.

Hecky has done a good job since taking over but this recent turn towards negativity in the tactics makes me fearful for next season. I don’t expect to challenge for promotion for a good few years after this season but if we are going to have mid table finishes and boring defensive tactics to boot I am not sure if I can go through that again.
This.

Hecky was more than happy with a point. He was a defender so is naturally cautious by trade and his management style supports this. Nice guy, safe pair of hands but tactically naive. He isn’t the man to get us to the promise land. Unfortunately United are killing us a slow death this season and I am extremely fearful for the next one.

A bit of an insult to the player to bring him on for a minute. Either give him proper or minutes or don't bother.

If you listen to podcasts with former players the thing that really fucks a player off is bullshit like this from the manager.

Fleck needed subbing on 70 mins. He hadn't played the last match and he was worth resting for the next game.

A point is not the worst result in the world. A defeat would have been (see Reading fun and games), so I agree with the timewasting substitution. I'd have done the same. Their goal and all their 2nd half chances resulted from when we were going at it in their goalmouth. 2 wins and we're probably in play offs. Cardiff at home, QPR away and a Fulham side that will probably be on the beach by then. It's very doable, and with the resources we currently have available, would be a decent achievement. But I have to say, I don't think we will do it....

It was a must win

But it wasn't was it? We're still 6th and a point better off than Millwall, rather than equal points that would have been if we'd have farted again and lost. I love positivity and getting the win, but there's a time when you're better settling for a point. Not at the start of the game (see Nigel Clough), but in stoppage time when a point leaves us to fight another day. I personally wanted us to settle after the equaliser against Reading, and would have put 7 at the back for the last minute. Pick the time to rage your battles.......

We have a very tricky trip to QPR and we are playing the champions at home.

Bristol City away from home is most definitely a must win.

any away point is classed as a good point it's accepted win your home games draw away is the winning promotion formula
the time for being gung ho had passed
best to take something rather than risk getting nothing
and as it turned out we are in pole position in a 3 / 4 game race

What about when you lose your home game directly before that?

qpr have won 1 of their last 6 and that was v Derby who were the better side by some way according to sky commentator but couldnt score
You've already said every away game a point is a decent result. Given we've just lost our last home game, to fourth bottom, do we not need to make these points up elsewhere?
We have the champions at home on the final day, too.
And Cardiff is anything but a formality given how we're playing.

thats the general rule but when you win the odd away game it balances out
we are 6th on merit of how weve done which is slightly better than those 7th down
so if you say weve been poor well ergo those 7th down have been slightly poorer

every draw or defeat we have is in fact not really worse than any draw or defeat other clubs have
boros lost 4 on the bounce without scoring a goal thats a bad run

Do you really genuinely believe we'll get only 1 point less than the rest of the teams in the chasing pack? Given how we've played recently and the level of opposition we are facing/type of opposition we are facing?

boro lost at home to hull blackburn to stoke etc
not one of the chasing pack as you call them have done better in their last 6 games than we have

nerves get to all clubs
we are 6th still because others are stumbling every bit as much or more than we have

what bit of that dont you get

What I don’t get is your insistence slash blind belief that we’re going to get there 😂 all signs point to us giving it away. It should be sewn up by now, it’s not.

Can't believe it ... we're honestly thinking of Premier league... with this squad?

Fuck me!, it’s time to stop sulking innit?
Every fan from every team below us in the football pyramid would love to be in our position.
You miserable F%6**&s
Time for our players to start taking the chances and stop fucking up, and the management to stop being fucking stupid

you ignore the factual form guide that shows we have not been worse than those 7th downwards Look at the top of league one all the top 3 stumbled last night< it happens every year ask Leeds united fans

blade too long our remaining fixtures compared to Millwall’s are unfavourable. Same with Boro. I see us finishing 8th and that’s about right.

We had 2 games to capitalise and get MINIMUM 4 points from. We failed.
