Sheffield WEDNESDAY boss Brian Laws wants to take Geoff Horsfield in one of the biggest cross-city transfers in years.

Laws is keen to snap up Horsfield from his misery at Sheffield United - and make him one of the main men in his promotion push this season.

Horsfield clashed with Blades boss Neil Warnock and has been loaned out to Leeds and Leicester without success.

However, Laws thinks Horsfield's experience would be vital for a lightweight Owls attack - and he plans to offer £400,000.

I hope they take him to be honest, I cannot see him having much of a future at the lane, but Robson has used him a few times in pre season i think. We have too many strikers as it is and I cannot see him getting in the side ahead of beattie, sharp, hulse, webber and shelton. A striker who does not score goals, almost perfect for the piggies!
