There was a lot of vibe in that game up to the sending off even the home crowd have admitted their player should have walked just before surely he could have evened things up and severely reprimanded Higgy
Up to that point we were dominant Higdon just had a goal disallowed
Then the ref killed the game mugged into it by their players
And FFS get off Higdons back

Is him having a goal disallowed any excuse to go in like he did? Like I say, their player won a fucking Oscar with the dramatics, but in honesty, if you were he and a lummox like Higdon had gone in like that, would you have just shrugged, shook his hand and got up? No way. Put the boot (as it were) on the other foot and imagine if one of their players had cropped one of our defenders like that. You wouldn't hear the last of it. As said, it was a stupid, unnecessary tackle in an benign part of the pitch, as their player received the ball he was being closed down anyway and in comes Higderson from the back/side with his foot off the ground. It's not as though no one saw this and the home crowd wouldn't react as such to add impetus to the ref's decision. Higderson just game him the excuse.

I was fishing yesterday afternoon and dialled up the BBC website when I could on my phone and saw he'd been red carded. I thought, "What stupid tackle/elbow in the face has that daft bastard done now to put us down to ten men?" I wasn't wrong. I don't give a shit about what they got away with - sometimes you are the statue, sometimes you are the pigeon and we have had some tasty challenges this season where the opposition have wailed loud and long that we should have the player removed from the field of play. It's stupid gestures like his - if he was putting in a 50/50 on an attack or stopping one of theirs then fair enough - that completely vindicate people like me saying he's shit.

But it is not that game i.am. This is a third tier local dust up and its thirty minutes in at one-nil to them. Everything to play for, ball just by the halfway line, player looking forward and our midfield player closing in to move him rightward or stop his forward ball play. In comes Higdon underneath him on his blind side and flattens him and plays both ball and player. Like I say, the defender is a cunt for all the drama, but the ref has no option than to dismiss the lummox for what is, a pointless tackle. Welbeck's challenge was 'tasty', but as Mourinho said afterwards, Arsenhole were already beaten and it was the last knockings of the game.

As he'd already scored a disallowed, surely the impetus is to stay on the pitch and exploit their weaknesses again? No?

Instead let's give the ref the chance to play to the home crowd and go underneath one of their players. Had he not done that, we would have been 11 vs 10 four minutes later and the initiative is on the Blades to attack.

Sad to say we've seen players seriously injured before from similar late sliding tackles and it probably deserved a red. However the flopping around from the Chesterfield lad was the most ridiculous acting performance I've ever seen. An injured player with a leg or ankle injury does not jackknife like a landed fish. His sole intention was to see a red card.

You don't see it wi' RL players for example.
And they're paid a fraction of your average footballer.
Never liked to see this kind of feigning injury but Higgy wasn't very savvy with the challenge - wooden head!

Higdon appears to be one of those players that as soon as it appears he is getting on track he goes and presses the fuck up button. I'm guessing his match fitness will be set back until the start of next season now.

As he is the only one who Clough appears to trust to score goals that really fucks us up for the next 3 games.
