Here's a new one - "lump and run"

Yesterday we were exactly that - awful on the eye but we got the 3 points

All these cunts who struggle to find a reasonably accurate way to criticise us resort to the banal analogy that we cannot play. Have these dullards not listened to the likes of Jenas or Souness when they talk about the quality of our football.....or is it simply that these fools have to find something to beat us with, therefore their limited imaginations are left with little other than to call us a 'hoof' side. Have they not understood that all that matters is to play the right pass, so they'd prefer to consistently pass the ball 22 times without an end product rather than an accurate 30-yarder that provides a scoring opportunity...watch McBurnie's goal today, a decent goal-kick that allowed McBurnie to create an excellent opportunity all on his own. Superbly taken goal that was top drawer.

Watch the highlights for our goal yesterday, that description is pretty accurate. The beauty of this team is that we don't stick to one style.

You're right. We don't stick to one style of play. But it would be stretching things to the extreme to suggest that we are a lump it and run team.

You must have seen a totally different game to me. I thought we played very well, first half especially. I thought our passing and movement was good and at times, sublime. Overall we were not at the levels that we have been, but to describe that performance yesterday as "awful on the eye" - I'm gobsmacked tbh. If you think this is awful on the eye then I'd really pack in supporting Sheffield United mate, I really would. Because you obviously want something more from a football team than this, or any other club, can offer I'd say.

What amazes me is, we've got "Blades" on here agreeing with them! I can't get my breath!

I agree, but if you are not a Blade and all you see if yesterdays goal then that is the box we are put in (and of course goes with the agricultural tag we are still occasionally given). Happily we know better.

Yes agreed. It amazes me that we still get referred to as a "physical" team. I've read that a few times now on Roy's excellent pre-match reviews. Where do folks get this from? I think I know the answer. It's a perception that was built many years ago based on a totally different set of players, under a totally different management regime, in totally different circumstances. As such...it's garbage.

You have to have a certain low level of IQ to come out with such crap. Or, be Garth Crooks.

Mr.Halfway- Got to agree with you there! Brighton looked good in midweek, they were on their own patch and in front of 30k. We turn up, play a bit of football, score a cracking goal then make sure we don’t loose. What’s not to like! You win anyway you can and take the 3 points home with you. Look how Newcastle fans celebrated at the Lane With their smash and grab tactics. I’m sure they don’t play like that every week.
It’s not about entertaining the Sky neutrals for me!
Brilliant result UTB.

Wolves got totally out played by Norwich yesterday. They've become quite the arrogant bunch over the mawt few years and they're probably a but worried there's another new team at the top end with em

Why you getting so upset about it? Do you really care what people think of our playing style so much? And if a Blade doesn't think we played it nice yesterday, so what?

This 'offended' thing is catching on.

Man City score quite a few goals from Edersons’ kicks but they are far from a kick it and lump it side, you just have to come to the conclusion that some people are as thick as pig shit and there’s no hope for them. 😁

I personally wasn't bothered, it's something we have to get used to. I was pointing out the cliche, is it a new one for long ball?

I know, wasn't aimed at you.

I thought it wasn't that pretty at times yesterday and other teams can say what they want but they need to work out how to beat us first.

Wolves LOL, if Norwich could defend or even if they had taken their chances Wolves would have got a hammering yesterday.

Very true, we played some good football in the first half. In the second half VAR gave Brighton some momentum (it was a correct decision but from thinking they had lost Brighton suddenly had hope) and also we missed Fleck so much in the middle.

It doesn’t amaze me in the slightest. We have a large percentage of Bassett-boy hoofers who yearn for grotesque anti-football. They claim it doesn’t matter how you play as long as you win, entirely missing the point that it’s cause and effect.

We have the best football team we’ve ever had, playing proper football, the right way. As Tufty said recently [the hoofers put their hands over their ears and pretended it wasn’t said but they heard it and hated it] “we don’t just bash it into the channels for Brian Deane to chase”. The rest of the world left them behind decades ago but they still walk the streets of S2.

We bash it up the middle for McBurnie to chase... ;)

In amongst all of the plaudits that United have been receiving this season, it has been quite revealing to see which fans have been rather more sour and chippy.

It is clear, and Roy's 'view froms' provides plenty of evidence of this, that fans of the truly 'big' established clubs have had almost total praise and admiration for what Wilder and the players are achieving.

In contrast, any negative commentary (such as it is, because there hasn't been much) has emanated from fans of clubs who want to be 'the story' this season or who were once 'the story' but now fear that they no longer are. Unlike, supporters of the likes of Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs etc, the fans of those less established clubs display their insecurities by railing against the media's focus on United.

Thus, we see the 'stick your heads in the sand' attitude of Norwich and, to a lesser extent, Villa fans, who have found that they have been completely over-shadowed by the club that came up with them; Newcastle fans who pine for the days 25 years past, when they were the freshest thing on the menu rather than being dour survival artists; and Wolves who have found that, a mere 12 months on, media coverage of the Premier League moves quickly on to the next 'big thing' and that Europa League football, as well as they are doing, doesn't really hold the attention for the football world at large.

Next season, the chances are that if the Dirties don't fall apart again (although they seem to have just started to do so again just as they did exactly 12 months ago), they and Bielsa will be 'the story'.

I'm reasonably confident that, unlike these sensitive souls at the likes of Wolves, the majority of Blades are realistic and secure enough not to get too upset if the focus shifts away from us, albeit Look North and Calendar will be a real test...

Play the tactics to suit the game, situation in the game and particularly yesterday the conditions. End result 3 points. Who cares what anybody says having watched 3 minutes on Match of the Day
