Middlesbrough, Sunderland to battle for Sheffield Utd's Beattie
tribalfooball.com - April 27, 2008

Sheffield United are ready to sell striker James Beattie.

The People says the big-money buy from Everton last August has been banging in the goals but there will have to be cutbacks at Bramall Lane this summer.

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is a long-term fan while Sunderland are watching developments - but Beattie, 30, could be targeted by Stoke.

This summer will be interesting.
Are SUFC a selling club ?

He will always be linked with clubs in the premiership as hes Premiership quality.

Sheff Utd need to show they mean business next season & can do that by keeping Beattie.

As Robbie says, unless you have the pulling power and finance of the top 3 +1 (Arsenal are holding to the coat-tails of the other 3 financially) then you are a selling club!

Looks like a possible top 5 finish, plenty of good financial backing from the top man, quality manager, good signings yet Villa will lose Gareth Barry in the summer! There's just no ambition there!! ;)
