Hendersons sausage rolls

I had one yesterday too. Sucked in by the Henderson’s tag. It was an OK sausage roll but nowt special. £4.50 is more than they charge for a pie! I’ll go for the pie next time.
I used to work in the meat industry in the 80’s. Now things may have changed but all I can say is that the general consensus was that of all the meat based products that you really don’t want to eat. Commercially produced pies were top of the list…….all kinds of bits n pieces 🥴

Nothing sold at BDTBL from the catering would get a mention on that twitter account @Footyscran unless it was being ridiculed. Take a look at some of the fare on that and see how short changed we are at the Lane. Service is utter shit too. If you’re going to eat, put your money into the businesses on London Rd and surrounds.

Jeez. I've not had one, but £4.50 for a chuffin sausage roll is ridiculous. But if people will buy 'em, they'll sell 'em.
Why would anyone with half a brain buy a sausage roll that costs £4.50???
My reasoning last week was that I was getting a pint and I was hungry. so I bought one and ate it. Not the best value for money dinner I've ever had, but needs must.

I only buy food at the Lane if it’s a night match or lunchtime kick off but can’t complain about the John Street catering, it is much better than it used to be and even the service isn’t bad these days. Sure, the prices are OTT but, per my OP, the sausage rolls are really nice (forget the fact that they are supposed to be Hendos, I wouldn’t have known). Perhaps we’re just lucky in the JS stand.

That's fair enough, but the prices in the ground are bonkers!
The price of a pint of Neck Oil is actually 10p cheaper than a lot of pubs.

Food in football grounds is always expensive, my son frequently wants me to get him a Dairy Milk in the ground at £1.20 a pop, it's hardly the height of great value but 🤷‍♂️

Just the in the cheap seats, then 😂👍🏻

It's always really fucked me off that we sing the Greasy Chip Butty song and don't actually sell a decent chip butty.

Sing about chips but we sell fries. Ridiculous.
Get a petition going!!!

The prices for food are dreadful. But, see the prices at anything with a captive audience: trains, festivals, gigs, nightclubs, etc.

That said, I’ll risk the wrath of millions, and happily admit that, for me, a pie at the match is as much a part of terrace culture as a programme, a scarf, or abusing the ref.

I ❤️ a pie at the match, even a shit one. And there have been countless away days over the years where even a rubbish ‘away pie’ has been the only redeeming aspect of the entire day.

Also, sometimes, on those occasions when the timings don’t work to meet others at the boozer beforehand, or when we can’t be arsed to queue for 20 minutes in a crowded sweaty pub … well, paying a few bob extra for a pint at the ground (or a little less than pub price for Neck Oil), on a day off from work, in earshot of the warmups, surrounded by buzzing fans … it hardly wrecks my weekend.

Appreciate this might not be a popular perspective.

Had a hendos sausage roll yesterday on the strength of this thread as the last pie I had was awful.

I dunno if its because the other options are so bad or whether it was the beer but I thought it was lovely.

Staniforth’s seasoned sausage rolls were the best I’ve ever had. But by God the farts the next day could knock a fly off a bucket of shit.
Dave has done well since he hung his boots up!

Egg custards are great there too. However like wagon wheels, they just seem a bit smaller these days.

Bettie says he is personally happy with our catering company.
Has he eaten any of their stuff, or does he get his prawn sandwiches from elsewhere?

As always with these things the important information isn’t there.
What are his objectives and expectations?
If it’s cheap delivery of services at minimal cost and they’re seeing good returns then why wouldn’t he be happy? The queues are generally long (maybe due to service levels) but they do seem to do a good trade every match day and given the prices I would guess mark up is also at a good level.

They won’t see 1p of the turnover, Compass will have agreed a flat fee to sell the food and drinks so no risk to SUFC but all profits to compass
