Just out of interest does anyone know if he had this kind of connection with the supporters when he was at the Shrews last season?

Not trying to put a downer on things because I think he is top draw, but not entirely sure if he has genuinely got the Blades bug, or is just an excitable kind of chap :D

I do suspect it's the former though, as we have seen quite a few loanees fall for us in the last few years. Wilder seems to have created such a buzz around the players/supporters/club that I can see how infectious it must be to somebody new who is coming in.

He was apparently just the same at Grimsby and Shrewsbury. His ambition is to be Man Utd’s number one keeper.
As much as he obviously loves it at Utd, he seems quite driven and consequently I can’t see him giving up on that dream, for a few years yet

With Man Utd being in a mess, you really just don’t know who may be the next manager. I would definitely be broaching the subject of loaning him next year around March and get it done early, if at all possible, as I guess he’d benefit from the continuity as our No.1, because let’s be honest, he’ll always have saves to make ! What’s his contract situation at Man Utd ?

The main factor will be if De Gea leaves, unlikely though I would think. The next issue could be that they want to loan him to a Premier League club next season. At present we don’t know what will happen with us.

The last keeper who had a brilliant season in the Championship on loan from Man U was signed by WBA for £7m I think. So if they did sell him it’d be a similar fee. If we’re in the Prem not bother but if it’s the Championship again it’s the entire transfer budget on a keeper if he’s available. It’d be an investment for 10 + years but the resources need to be spent up top really.

I'm gonna state the obvious that I desperately want promotion this year (like we all do, every season) but this year its even more so because of what you just wrote.

I think that if we landed in the Premiership we could at some point secure his signature if thinks don't work out at Old Trafford (which they will for him). However he's already adored here and when you endear yourself to the faithful at the lane cult status always follows!

Top of the league tonight and don't that feel good!

Everything you said, abso-bloody-lutely spot on.
