I would be doing as much as possible to keep the main players from the promotion winning squad together. They are fast becoming fellow ‘gate keepers’ of the club and will be vital in setting the tone for any new players coming in. We need 5/6 players IMO and we need them to be welcomed in to the club but feel in the minority and understand they need to work for their place ahead of the boys who got us here.

As said by many on here previously too I would love to see a few of the older players retire with us and potentially stay on in a coaching capacity. Can you imagine a junior coaching staff of Jake Wright, Duffy and Sharp mentoring the young lads coming through. You could barely find 3 more committed professionals and each has mastered many [or all] elements of the position they play. This wouldn't be down to sentiment either, just pragmatism and common sense imo.

Fully agree, we need to keep as many at the club in a variety of capacities ala Bayern Munich...

Go get Hendo on a permanent (£6 - £8m) up front with a probable buy back option for Man Utd setting a future fee so that they let him go (and hes happy cos he knows they have first refusal at a decent price if he carries on developing), and go and pick up David Marshall on a free from Hull as back up as hes out of contract and experienced.

We could try to do it on the cheap, but I can easily see us spending £60m on players.

Top Championship players are going to cost a minimum of £10m and maybe over £20m for strikers/attacking midfielders. With currently only Sharp and McGoldrick as strikers for next season and Duffy getting on a bit, it’s not going to be cheap if we look at top Championship players. We’d easily spend £40m on 2 strikers and an attacking midfielder.

We’re only allowed 2 loans at any one time and 1 of those could be Hendo. So maybe the free agent market is an option but that generally means big wages at Premier League level.

I think he's only under contract at ManU until the end of next season so chances are they'll want to tie him down anytime now. His stock is rising, England squad could be round the corner so I'll be amazed if they don't. I think a further loan would be the likely outcome unless De Gea moves on but even then, they'd probably go high profile replacement.

Dean is very clever. Hes put playing time before every other consideration in his career, and has used it in his contract negotiations with Man Utd. Source: Dean Henderson. If he's not in the first team picture he w'll be going somewhere. Many young footballers could learn a lot from him.

I do think Man U will not want to fully cut their ties to Henderson, but he’s still not Champions League quality by a stretch. Maybe in a few years, but the odds are firmly against him.

One thing few mention is the modern requirement for top goalies to play like outfield footballers. The bloke at Man City is freakishly good with the ball, and other top clubs are trying to follow that lead. I’m not sure that skill can be learned very readily and Henderson’s distribution and control is a long way short. Plus Man U have no patience....

Interesting interview with him from yesterday, pretty much sums up what we've been thinking. Reading between the lines, the 2 clubs need to sort out a deal for next season but at the end of the day his target is to be Man U and England No.1. All depends how Man U see it I guess.
