The fabric is consistent with the late 70s designs, so maybe it is a 'retro' shirt from about 1978.

Good shout. Could well be. It's got me confused for sureThe fabric is consistent with the late 70s designs, so maybe it is a 'retro' shirt from about 1978.
Wouldn't a 70s shirt have had measurements in inches rather than centimetres? What has me confused, and I'm in no way trying to convince anyone it's a genuine 70s shirt, is if it is a fake whoever did it has gone to a lot of trouble. Like the 93 one above, which looks like a decent effort, has a plain basic label. Whereas the one I have they must have also faked an Umbro label. But agree it could be a basic reissue Umbro template shirt with a badge embroidered on later![]()
I was about to post the same.Wouldn't a 70s shirt have had measurements in inches rather than centimetres?
Found this image which is apparently a Scotland shirt from 1978. Looks quite similar to the mine, which could give strength to the theory it's from the late 70s...Wouldn't a 70s shirt have had measurements in inches rather than centimetres?
I picked this shirt up a couple of years ago not really knowing what it is! I'm thinking I can't have been lucky enough to get a Woody shirt, but it seems to have a lot of the hallmarks of the 70s shirts.
Can anyone shed any light on what it might be? I'm assuming a modern replica but the material of the shirt (that sort of really scratchy nylon) and the Umbro label is unlike any replica I've seen.
Thanks for any insights![]()
This has black printed number 8 on a white sewn square which I hope makes this genuineDuring that period, numbers were always sewn on to a white material square, which was, in turn, sewn on to the shirt. This carried on through the first tranche of Admiral kits too. Also, all the middle stripes were exactly lined up. Never, EVER seen a picture of one of those shirts with a misplaced stripe.
And for those reasons, I'm out.

We didnt have the numbers on front of the shirts during the 1973-74 and 1974-75 seasonsThis has black printed number 8 on a white sewn square which I hope makes this genuine View attachment 128833
