From memory (as a kid mind) I recall the kits of that era by Admiral having very coarse and rough nylon. Recall a cold match somewhere like Castle Dyke and me nipples getting a right chafing and the collar almost making me neck bleed. Kids nowadays don't know how lucky they are!
The shorts however were more like incontinent pants, very tight around the leg and the nylon more like ripcord. Never tested their ability in the old continence department but would have had a degree of confidence.
Admiral were of course also responsible for the chocolate brown Coventry kit with the vertical stripes that curved toward the shoulder. I know brown was big in the 70' s but that kit was one of the worst ever kits. Thank Christ we didn't go for that one.
Finally, I recall buying a Leeds away kit Subutteo team with the sole purpose of liberating them, by self painting the united admiral V's over the blank yellow kit with Humbrol model paint to turn them into The Blades. A great idea, however my painting skills weren't quite there, the results didn't quite work and they looked like your average roadside tarmaccer after a week on the job. Got laughed out of our Subutteo league.
UTB
That's brought back memories CB of seemingly endless hours customising various Utd Subbuteo kits (number 9 was always us ?)..... managed to do a reasonable job of the umbro kit we had when Bassett got us back in to the first division, including a ginger Colin Hill and a filed down Deano to recreate the flat top hair cut.
