Hello lads from a Worcester City fan based in Stockport.

As you can imagine we are all pretty chuffed with drawing the Blades in the cup. But for me personally it's the dream tie, having played cricket in Sheffield for 10 years back in the mid 1990s / 2000s and having loads of mates who are Blades (including my best man). I've always wanted the chance to see the two sides play and after getting our revenge over Coventry City last season, we are looking for a chance to assuage our defeat to United in 1959, which halted our best ever FA cup run (4th round). I've seen quite few games at Bramall Lane in my time, including watching a cup upset from the John Street stand one night when you beat Arsenal (a few years ago now!).

Really looking forward to the game and hopefully a great atmosphere, both prior to the game (for a few scoops), during and after (for a few more). Note sure how many fans we will bring, but last year we took 3000+ to Coventry and 2,000+ to Scunthorpe (although both games were on a Sunday and cup fever had really bitten). I would hope for 2,000+ this year but you never know. Worcester is still a football city, even if we are currently forced to ground share at our neighbours Kidderminster. The city always gets up for a cup run. We should make some noise and it will be a great day out.

Welcome!

I saw the highlights of the Coventry match last year. Your support was bloody impressive.

I hope SUFC give you a decent allocation.

Those trips last season were incredible - it seemed the whole city caught the bug. The away followings were a strange mix of some silly little boys and huge family groups including old grannys - the majority of which never usually watch the team or knew who any of the players were! Slightly weird for the more hardcore of us supporters, but still they seemed to make plenty of noise and certainly added to the spectacle.

As for the Archers, based on the village of Inkberrow where my mum taught once. Very straw sucky! We don't all speak like the wurzels, especially those of us based in Gt Manchester for the last 20 odd years!

I prefer Wurzel over Manc any day. Embrace your inner carrot-cruncher ;)

Any sign of you returning to Worcester? Or is Aggborough a long-term thing?

To be honest I didn't watch it (class of 92), but have sky+ it. Money has changed all levels of football, but in non-league in particular it is a real divider. Sugar daddys come and go and propel teams with little history through the leagues and then pull out, with the inevitable consequences. I hope Salford City do not ultimately become another 'hobby club' that is promoted above its level and then left to flounder, when the class of 92's interest wanes. There are few 'new' non-league clubs that have survived for any length of time and history (Rushden & Diamonds, Colne Dynamoes, etc) is littered with the corpses of these 'projects'.

Worcester are one of non-leagues 'sleeping giants' as we have a good support base, but just no money and now no home. Day to day survival has become more important than success on the pitch. Thats why the FA Cup is so important and thats why we are all delighted to pull the biggest team out of the hat. Its all about the £s. This tie could give us another season at Aggborough without going bump.

We have a planning application for a new ground (which is very much paupers spec compared to our old grand home at the lane) in Worcester, but its all very political. We should know in the new year if this is approved. Then we need to get grant money to build it. Even with a good following wind that might take another couple of years.

In reality we cannot survive for long at Aggborough (neither can Kiddy, who are as cash strapped as us) so we have to move 'home'. The Aggborough experience hasn't been as awful as I thought it would be (but then I only go 4 or 5 times a year, my season ticket being more a donation to the cause rather than regularly used) but sitting opposite the empty stand with 'harriers' written out in white seats does take some swallowing of pride!

Welcome! Personally I'm looking forward to the game, haven't done 1st round FA cup before but fancy going to this as I'll be away a bit more over the next few months.

Hope we play to win it (unlike in the league cup v Fulham) as I think we need a cup run again this season.

On the other hand, as I've got a mate who's a Harriers fan it would be good to get a replay at the aggborough as he said the pies were great :)

It must be a pain in the arse to say the least, the thought of having to share 'the other lots' ground would turn my stomach!

It's a similar situation just up the road from you at Gloucester City with them having to share with Cheltenham, albeit under different circumstances.
I hope you get a ground that does you justice, rather than the awful featureless new-builds that we see these days.

My sister lives in Kiddy.

If the replay is on, I will be kipping on the lounge floor.

Looking forward to this game more than any league game given our form at the moment. If you bring a few, could easily be a 15,000+ crowd with our season ticket offer. Hope that's a nice financial boost for yourselves!

Judging by our home performances you will never have a better chance of advancing to the second round, depends on how motivated NA can get them. Motivation for Sheffield United players at the moment reads:- half-arsed. Look forward to a good following from your lads and lasses, enjoy the game whatever the outcome.

The steam railway at Kidderminster is top class.

There's a safari park that's pretty good too. Once had a female tiger squirt urine (well I think it was) at the side window as the Mrs peered out - she didn't half jump at the act- and the two little Ken's (well they were then) howled with laughter.

Why am I telling you all this?
Well it's an alternative form of entertainment when the football turns your day into shit :)

I doubt you'll get the atmosphere you're hoping for mate. All eyes are on the league for us. I like the FA cup but it's hard to get excited about the first round when you've spent most of your life watching your team enter at 3rd round stage. Reckon we'll see a crowd of about 10k.

Nice to be playing a non-league team who we've not seen before though. Sick of playing the same old boring teams like Crewe, Preston etc.

We don't play Preston any more :(

I know, I was referring to last seasons cup runs where we played the likes of Orient, MK, Crewe, Preston etc from our division all away from home as well. A home tie against a team I'm not sick of the sight of will make a refreshing change.

I know

I was being nostalgic.
Reminiscing.

It's strange that a yardstick of current position and aspiration is now being on a par with Preston.
FFS - they've even won a play off final :o

i said monday, its win win we seem to be a lot of non league sides choice, without being patronizing (as really dont mean to be) great to give non league side a day out, like if we were away to liverpool, arsenal or either manchester clubs & as a 1danewhitehouse says it nice to be have a change after the "boring" colchester crewe & bristol rovers last few yrs. that has exited me more than majority of L1 games we've had this season

not sure how the gate receipts, are going to work because as you've seen all the season ticket holders got this game for free but hopefully it will still be a good crowd for you probably not the 17k from 1959, as we know from our cup exploits if worcester get 1st goal you got a good chance of a 2nd upset

Talking about decent new grounds vs. the usual featureless boxes, I always thought Rushden & Diamonds' new build was a bit of a beauty (although, no doubt, part of their financial overextension which pushed them into bankruptcy & oblivion). It just "worked" somehow.

Last I heard, it was just standing empty & fallow! - an incredible waste.

Worst of the new grounds would be Chesterfield for me ,Sunderland probably best. That Ive visited.
