My avatar shows Hilda Chester who rang the bell at the Brooklyn Dodgers games at Ebbets Field and was known for language and winding up opposition players. A baseball legend.

First time I saw the Man City lady fan (who takes her bell to matches) was when she was at the back of the BLUT ringing her bell just before the 3-3 draw in February 1972. I was a bit scared of he as she looked hard!

A blast from the past she was at every home game at main road and at Manchester royal infirmary every day. The woman was a saint

I remember her ringing that bell in the league Cup match away at Maine Road back in November 88. We lost 4-2 that night, and I think Paul Moulden scored a hattrick for them. Good game, think we levelled at to make it 1-1 and then later to make it 3-2, but they had too much for us that night. I also think Deane and a certain Mr Wilder played for us that night.

And that bell was really bloody annoying... 😳

It was confusing too. Some of our younger players left the field when she rang that, thinking it was the end of playtime. That's why we lost 4-2.

They really missed a trick not naming the Colin Bell Stand the Bell End.

True story. They stupidly had a poll which was hijacked by other fans across the country, who of course all wanted the magnificent 'Bell End'.

Citeh realised their error and abandoned the poll, much to the dismay of Bell's family:-
