Sheffield United are interested in former Watford striker Heidar Helguson, who is currently at Fulham.

The Iceland international has rarely figured in Fulham's first team, so could be tempted to move elsewhere.

Blades boss Neil Warnock has made no secret of the fact he's interested in Helguson, who he tried to bring to Bramall Lane in the summer.

Warnock will be spending money in the forthcoming transfer window, but Fulham may be reluctant to let the striker leave on a permanent basis.

Then if we could get Mellor and Akinbiyi to give them competition we'll be nailed on for promotion.

For those who think the Star is rubbish these days, I remember all four of those on the back page of the Star being linked with United but not quite materialising. Am I right in remembering Bebeto as well?

I was convinced he was going to ultimately play for us, in the same way I thought Shipperley eventually would. No surprise at all when Warnock finally got him at QPR.
 

Prefer Heidi...or Pippy Longstocking if we're going down that route...

Yup. There was a link with Bebeto. Also Yordan Lechkov, Jose Mari Bakero amongst others!
 
I remember when The Star reported we were about to sign our first Million Pound player but they didn't know which player...

Toss up between Philemon Masinga or Rob Ullathorne. they probably claimed ITK on Ullathorne when he finally signed 5 year after

Highly possible mate. We were linked with all sorts of world class players who we had absolutely no chance of signing!! Typical Star though, believing any old shite and printing it!!!
 
Joking apart Scandinavia and Iceland is a great place to find players
They are usually big, strong, athletic, technically very good and Uniteds favourite attribute.......cheap
