I would like Wilder back to have another go but I'm not sure now is when it could or should happen. The prince shows alot of patience with managers, he won't want to lose the money either. I'd rather appoint wilder upon relegation than throw him in a battle we will probably lose anyway.

Hecky has been much more flexible and adventurous than Wilder was, in terms of how we play in the middle and final thirds. Certainly so compared to how Wilder set us up in his final two seasons where the default was always the flat 3 in midfield.

Hecky has played Wilder's 3-5-2 and 5-3-2, but he's also set us up with a 3-4-2-1, a 3-4-1-2, and a 3-4-3.

In the last two seasons, with Iliman, Gibbs-White, Doyle and McAtee, we've also played with less width (as the default when attacking) and more through the middle of the pitch than we did under Wilder. How often do we see those Wilder triangles on the touchlines these days? Far, far less, and much less predictably, than we used to.

Sometimes we do look like we lack structure and a signature style. And sometimes, especially when struggling, the solution of first and last resort has seemed to be "Give it to Iliman", or whoever. But to say that Hecky is simply reproducing Wilderball, or a pale imitation of it, suggests you might need (a) a seat closer to the pitch, (b) better specs, or (c) a new HD TV.

If we don’t start picking up points soon I’m not against a change. What I’m totally against is Wilder coming back. He’s peaked, sulky and anti foreign signings. No thanks

I thought the Wilder era was brilliant until it wasn’t any more, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

I thought his approach to the PL was very one dimensional and worked very well the first season. I’ve always thought the second season collapse was more down to JOC injury than our style getting sussed out. We became lopsided with Bash being our only overlapping centre half and that made opponents only have to deal with our right hand side. It seemed that Wilder never managed to deal with this.

I think Hecky is doing a comparable job to Wilder when he was on song and that is why I do not support the detractors who think Hecky should go. The suggestion that Wilder should replace him, if he does go, I find laughable and the thought that Wilder would be better at getting us out of the Championship is bonkers.

What a stupid idea
Hecky is doing as good if not a better job than anyone else could do with his resources.
Plus he has his squad set to move forward even if we do go down.

Look what happens at S6 to see what happens when you start cutting you manager at the first sign of a percieved problem, Our sesaon starts on Sunday, and there are still 3 clubs below us & 3 other teams above us who we can pass with a win on Sunday.
Hecky is the man to keep us up

Well, that's it then.

Were officially a fan base of looneys

So very clear the team that started the prem was different to the one that got promoted to it, we've taken a couple of games for all the new signings to get some rhythm but players like Hamer and Archer are settling just nice. I'd claim Mcatee too but he hardly left I suppose. Were looking like a team that's not rolling over, City and Spurs can tell you that and it feels a lot like that win is round the corner.

So some think getting rid of the manager now and bringing in a new one to completely ruin the dynamic is a good idea? I've questioned his tactics and his subs at times granted.

Don't even get me started on Wilder. I have zero resentment, really like the guy and couldn't be happier with what he did for United but he has no management place here anymore. He's done nothing but fail since he left and that leaving was a bit unfavourable in the first place.

There seems to be a noticeable theme with the people vying for Wilder back.

They've all got the IQ of a Scarecrow.

Come back to this thread in a month when the numbers having this opinion will have increased

Not many people wanted Slav to be sacked the day after we beat reading 🤷‍♂️

Unless something dramatic happens, I would almost guarantee hecky this season and (worst case scenario) we are relegated, the start of the next. The more I hear him talk, the more respect I have for him and how he carries himself and talks about the club.

Wilder was amazing, but what he built from league 1 upwards will not be replicated again (perhaps not in many other clubs). Getting a group of players to consistently over perform just ran it's course and the transfers were terrible.

Really ?

Hecky waffles on without actually saying a lot IMO

Mr Wilder wasn't sacked, his leaving was his own idea, I and most of the fan base including HRH, because of his success in his previous seasons believed that season was just a blip, so why was he so determined to move on ?.
His previous seasons with us were a time most of us fan's will always cherish and remember, so would it be such a good idea to bring him back knowing that if he fails after all the staff and player changes he will want to make,
He'll probably walk again ........ :tumbleweed: >

Not many first choice starters in that list.

It isn't the point about who are starters. You need to have squad depth and we have none if 11 are out injured.

It means we are going to be playing some players for 90 minutes regardless because we have fuck all on the bench.

Which is probably why we could not hold out against Spurs......
