...I'm talking about permanently reappointing a permanent manager.

Hecky was with us first time around in a sort of Interim capacity, Chris Morgan was a caretaker manager several times.

For all this talk of us haivng a "revolving door policy" is this the first time in our history that we've reappointed, in a permanent capacity, a manager who was previously employed under a permanent capacity?

John Harris.

Stepped down in the summer of 1968, Arthur Rowley did the job next season, Harris returned the following summer.

Yes - for those of a certain age…. John Harris had 2 spells as Manager. Arguably his 2nd spell (Woodward/Currie) was more successful.
Although he never left the club. He went ‘upstairs’.

James Beattie, Jon Harley & John Brayford were probably the most disappointing players to return to the club.

Harley & Brayford were unreal until they signed permanently. Beattie was passed it.

Billy Sharp made it work 3rd time around?

Am i right in thinking Rowley got sack for fidling transfer money or was that Furphy?

Egan has been good since coming back for a second spell as well

No, the board were fed up with Rowley's obsession on horse racing. The final straw was the pre season tour at Holland when Wragg and Harris flew over to Holland to have a meeting with the players to settle a pay dispute. Rowley couldnt wait for the meeting to end and told the players to board the coach heading for a pony trekking event in Hilversum.

Thanks gor that i couldnt remember what it was.

My dad said it was quite often Rowley sat in the Director's box listening to horse racing results from his transistor radio!
I know we've gone over this ground before, but to be fair to Rowley, he had an eye for a player as well as a nag and left a lasting legacy of players that would serve us well for the next few years after he left. Colquhoun, Hemsley, Flynn and Tudor, although Tudor didn't stay too long and was sold as part of the deal with us getting John Hope from Newcastle in the promotion year.

Tzicsac Mandurza.
Though nothing exists of his tenure as all evidence was wiped out during the younger dryas.

And Powell was a brilliant signing too. Won POTY in his first season and was a regular in the Wales team. Deffo better than Flynn
