After another last minute goal, is Chris worth keeping to come off the bench? All promotion contenders must have a strong bench and game changers or people that can come in and do a job whenever called upon. Ben Davies is such a player, is Porter the Derby County Sammon?

I'm fairly sure Sammon is the Derby County Sammon.

I'm a fan of Porter, I always thought he received more stick than was deserved. That said, we need quality in that position. I would be disappointed if we haven't signed at least two feasible starters for that position by August, and ideally a better impact option from the bench.

LoughboroBlade, I meant, is Porter to the Blades, what Sammon is to County. Of course, I know you are smart enough to figure it out and you are toying with me!

As my old boss used to say don't throw your dirty water away until you have some clean until we get anyone better we need to hang on to him

Usual shit from the usual suspects. Bloke can do a job off the bench and certainly has the knack of scoring important goals for us. Why would a 1 year contract kill us? Or perhaps some would have preferred we kept Marlon on?

For a back up/ off the bench player then sure I won't argue if Clough wanted him to stay on, he as picked up enough goals imo for us to keep him on.

What? because we don't agree?

Porter will end up being part of the furniture like Monty was.

Another average player at best that will be kept around for ages because no other club wants them.

If you recall how well he worked with Miller prior to the cruciate injury it's clear Ports would be the perfect foil for a quality, pacey striker in certain games if the situation demands - that's if NC plays a 4-4-2 when he has the squad to play it. Hasn't he got 1 year left on his contract anyway?

when you consider Forest and his other late goals he has earned the club some money since Clough came. David Weir management masterclass.

Funnily enough, we were saying this evening that next season he'll be at Oldham, or possibly Bury.

He achieved more this evening in 20 minutes than your mate Jose did in the first 70. At one point, he even outpaced a full back and I've never seen him do that before. He also reacted good naturedly to the Porter's off to Brazil chants.

I'd hope we might have better options for next season, even coming off the bench, but he puts a shift in and I wouldn't be unhappy with him as back up.

Maybe us 'usual suspects' can see the future, and CP ain't that !Sentimentality cant come into it,thanks Chris ,but another season just isn't on.

4 league goals, oh & 2 penalties = 6 which is 8 or 10 below what someone in his position should be getting in a season in this division. A late pen & tap in v. forest has not made him a world beater. he remains very poor & it`s a surprise he`s anywhere near an attack he is usually so far behind any action. Get rid Nige, he`s become a comical legend among Blades simply because any goal is so unexpected. He`s shite.

"That boy Chris Porter, he's going to brazil"

And as one Blade shouted.... "On a one way ticket"

Personally I'd keep him another year. He adds a different dimension and for some reason when he came on tonight, the team started linking up better in the attack.

He can't be the first choice striker, but he can be a back up

All this crap about Porter if he scores we are on the pitch is just that crap
Hes not good enough and has never been good enough if we want to progress up the Leagues giving him another year would confirm us not having any ambition for next season and a waste of a wage put his £2k wage or what ever hes on towards getting a proper forward who actually scores goals apart from pens and the odd goal when defenders are knakered in a end of season game that means FA
