Me neither. And when people say ‘when he gets one he’ll go on a run’ I don’t quite subscribe to that view. He’s just not got the composure for it.

He had the composure for it 15 times last season. Agree he's been off it by his own high standards but Pele could've played up front for us first half yesterday and looked average. The supply was none existent and too many over hit long balls to chase. Not us at all first half.

At the end of the day if he's not scoring goals, only his overall performance keeps him in the team and if that drops off then he deserves to get subbed/left out. I thought McB had one of his best games for us last night and when Moose came on they looked a real handful although that might also be down to the fact the whole team stepped it up in the 2nd half.

Back to the point, I'm not sure how long we can make excuses for Didsy although I still don't think we've got anyone else to play the role he plays which is also part of the problem.

He was poor 1st half at home to Watford but returned to his normal standard 2nd half and was more than decent.
Away to Man City thought McGoldrick was decent/ good first half....faded away 2nd half.
Away at Liverpool he was poor (along with many others) the whole match.

Agree.....there’s a trend that his form is seeing a downturn.
However to be honest we’ve just played 2 of the best teams in the world so no wonder McGoldrick struggled to perform.

How good could Mcgoldrick be for the first half agaisnt Manchester city. He was on the bench.

Away to Man City thought McGoldrick was decent/ good first half....faded away 2nd half.

Impressive to fade away from his first half performance, which was him being sat on the bench

Could it be more down to the fact that neither McBurnie or McGoldrick are out and out strikers ? As soon as Mousset came on he was closer to McBurnie and stayed on the last man.

1st half we had a very flat 3 and two strikers dropping deep, it congested the play and they swarmed us. Just my opinion though.

Arsenal away will be a very different game and he’ll have more space, but I do think we need another Moose in the squad to keep a constant threat up front.

The more serious consideration for me is Besic in for Lundstram.

All players go through periods of poor form and McGoldrick is certainly not playing to his previous excellent standards. A good manager knows how to get the best out of his players, as they will all respond in different ways.
Personally, I would agree that a spell on the bench might do McGoldrick some good as I feel he is under too much pressure at the moment.
McBurnie and Mousset (if 100%?) to start at Arsenal for me. But as we say 'In Wilder we trust.'

Yep, poor game yesterday.
He didnt seem to drop as deep as usual, maybe it's because he was trying to play off Mcburnie's flick ons more.
I like the idea of McBurnie and Mousset as a partnership, I just worry that we won't nick the ball back and pressure their back 4 enough without McGoldrick.

I think the immense vocal support he's getting is making his drought a bigger deal than it is. I know he's come out and said it helps but the pity is fucking with his head.

I suspect Going forward now we will see the 2 starters be selected from 3 - Mousset, McBurnie and McGoldrick - with Sharp off the bench and Robinson restricted to the occasional cameo.

and playing up front and not scoring for 19 games (actually 21 if you include last season) is a big deal. Luckily others are picking up the slack so it’s not hurting us too much.

I don’t think there’s even a correlation there – and even yesterday, McGoldrick was still on when Fleck pressed and assisted the goal. Fleck was simply really poor first half yesterday. From the start of the second half he was noticeably better. Nothing to do with McGoldrick that.

Connor Sammon scored a few goals in a season once. I wouldn’t say he has much composure (or ability but that’s a different conversation) just because he’s scored goals.

He ya absolutely no composure or belief he’s going to score in front of goal.

Knew someone would point that out! Luckily almost is still a goal. I take your point and he also fluffed that headed chance but he’s pretty clearly a better finisher than Didzy.
