MaGuire not Kane (although he was pretty good). For me our Harry was head and shoulders the best player on the park, what a fantastic footballing CB. We saw his potential at the Lane but how he's developed is incredible. Possibly the best England CB since Moore.

Sorry but Kane was far and away England's best player. Held the ball up amazingly well, won countless fouls (including the penalty he then scored) and was an outlet all evening (until being moved from the centre forward position which was bizzarre).

Kane is the only genuinely world class English footballer at present.

Maguire was excellent though!

I will always remember his first tackle for the Blades first team, when he came on as a sub against Cardiff for his debut. Slid in against Craig Bellamy with a perfectly executed tackle, Bellamy went up in the air and Harry came away with the ball. :D

Give Bellamy his due as well, he went and patted Harry on the back for it. Harry's never looked back from that moment on.

If you couldn't see MaGuire was genuinly world class then you need to vist spec savers. Our Harry was complete in his performance and will soon outgrow Leicester.

With Utd being invariably rubbish in recent years, one of the few pleasures was watching players develop into something better. I thought Harry would eventually flirt with the lower end of the PL, but he’s become something else.

Turns up for a drink at our promotion party. Turns up on the pitch at the World Cup. Good lad.

I think Hull City selling him for an initial 12 million is far worse than us selling him for 2.5m which at the time was a decent fee. Yes we should have got more but when you consider the sell on fee we got another million was it?

Bet there's a few of the bigger teams that wish they'd spent that 12 million on Harry!

Great to see him playing so well but Kyle looks out of place at right centre back but Trippier was immense again tonight to be fair.

Just think where we would be if we kept all of our young prospects instead of making a fast buck.

Don't get me wrong, I thought Maguire was excellent tonight, but I certainly wouldn't call him world class just yet. Let's wait and see how he gets on against the Croatians and / or Brazilians if we get to play them before tagging him in with the best centre halves on the planet!

I get what you're saying but Harry wanted to leave and was PL quality playing in League One. We could have sold him for more though for sure. Harry had spent three full seasons with us and that was amazing to keep him that long. Kyle Walker going for relative peanuts after 10 games is the one that irks me the most.

I tag as him as one of the best CB's in my living history. His rise is incredible, he wins just about everything in the air, he passes the ball so well, always finds time on the ball and his dribbles up the pitch are like no other CB in the world right now. All that is missing is him letting rip when he gets into those positions, once he does that he is complete. Tell me a better CB please (anywhere).

Before it came to that, Alex Bruce used to get picked in front of him

They took forever to pick him - crackers. He had a loan spell at Wigan first didn't he and I think they got relegated in Harry's loan spell!?

They all irk with me pal, we should lock them down and refuse to sell.

At least 3 bookable offences for our Harry, but thankfully we've got past the most cynical test that he might face (until a possible Brazil final)

I agree with everything you're saying, but still don't think he can be categorised as world class just yet. At the minute, he's performing for his country in the world cup (excellently), as have the likes of Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos and Mats Hummels in the past.

The difference between Maguire and the 3 mentioned, is these 3 have done it consistently, for years, against the best of the best in multiple competitions (domestic and international). Literally the ONLY reason I don't consider Maguire to be world class just yet is experience and subsequently performances against the elite.

I love to goad my son while watching England...
(Harry Maguire on the ball)
Me: Harry Maguire, Sheffield United.
Son: Err there's a reason he doesn't play for them any more, they're rubbish.
Me: He learnt his trade at Sheff United.
(Kyle Walker on the ball)
Me: Kyle Walker, Sheffield United.
Son: Will you shut up about Sheffield United?
(Harry Kane on the ball)
Me: Harry Kane, Sheffield United.
Son: What?!
Me: Check it on Wikipedia.
...ah Henderson...Sheffield United...
