Harry Maguire

Why not? If we were entitled to a proportion of the profit Hull City made from Maguire's sale to Leicester then it stands to reason that we'd be eligible for a proportion of their sell on as that's effectively further profit for Hull. Assuming that's 20% we'd be in line for a further £2.1m (£70m Leicester to Man U = £53m profit x 20% to Hull = £10.6m x 20% to United = £2.1m).

But, of course, we're not. 'Sell-on clauses' are fine, but it's a way of clubs saying 'If he turns out crap/gets a career-ending injury, nowt to do with us, guv.' Like selling a house years ago, you can't go back and ask for a share of the profits as the value increases.

GLTTL. Is he worth that much? Of course he is if somebody is willing to pay it. You don't have to be that outstanding to be a traditional English 'stopper' (John Stones, John Terry anybody?). HM first came to my attention at the 2011 Youth Cup Final. A few years - and playing with far better players - later, he makes the fee we got for him look ridiculous. But - like Brooksy - he was always destined for better things.
