Did you see Kilgallon for Sunlan ,we're better off with Fortune.
Go on, tell me which pearl of wisdom made you think we had to sell Killa for 1.75 million to be able to fund Fortune's 5K a week 5 month contract?
Did you see Kilgallon for Sunlan ,we're better off with Fortune.
Sorry, I was just underlining our club's strange approach to communicating with its supporters.
Two or three weeks ago Killa had a week to make up his mind, then he said he wanted to stay, then he was sold and all along we've been told our transfer policy rested on what Killa did.
By my reckoning its the 29th of January today and we haven't acquired anyone other than Fortune since Killa left - unless announcing the Harper deal is meant to kid anyone that he's another 'new' signing.
Blackwell was also quite clear that Fortune was signed up incase Killa went at the last minute and we didn't have any time to get cover.
I think you are being slightly facetious there. Blackwell has said on numerous occasions since Killa left that he's searching for a CB in addition to Fortune. Theres an article on the main site about it now, he name checks Boro & Newcastle as clubs who are after the same players and presumingly can pay bigger wages.
If we don't bring someone in by Saturday it won't be from want of trying from his part.
Hilarious Santos that you take Blackwell's comments at face value.
Why on earth are we going after those players anyway? We have no chance of getting them.
Why not sign a young player hunger to better themselves, a player that KB and his great coaching team can develop - thne again, maybe not.
Not at all, I'd rather he keep his big gob permanently shut. Call me sad on other topics but I don't demand anything - it's a private business and no need to tell us anything at all about transfers until they happen.
The simple fact is if a player has a sniff of Toon or Boro interest, no matter what their age, they aint going to sign for Blackwell, because it is Blackwelland more importantlybecause we aint got the wedge they have.

You know as well as I do that 2 or 3 days into a transfer window people will be posting as to why we haven't signed anyone and why is Blackwell (or whoever) sat on his arse doing nothing.
We've heard this before.I cant see how his performances get him better thought of than Monty .it always strikes me as funny that people dont see the job Monty does or the number of points we have accumilated with Monty in the side to those when he wasnt in it
Back to Harper I have to say I find him a dissapointment and expected much more than he`s produced so far
Further, even if he did this 'job' effectively it's not enough!! A central midfielder has to have a bit more to his reportoire than conceding free-kicks, corners [from 40 yards whilst in possession and unchallenged the other night!] and throw-ins.
We've heard this before.
Do you enjoy seeing our team outpassed and outplayed week after week, home and away, by teams who should not be fit to play on our grass, even if we do win the games?
Many of us have both played and watched a great deal of football.
Do you pause to reflect that, even when victorious, the opposition invariably enjoy the greater share of possession?
SV, I agree with you. I mentioned the point only to counter the oft made suggestion that those who don't rate Monty are somehow missing something that his admirers see only too clearly. A legitimate response in that context, I think. This is one of the great arguments that holds as much water as a fucked bucket. You can be a good manager without having played football at a high level - see Mourinho, Wenger, and more. Sure, they will have watched a lot of football. But as this is a football forum it would be fair to say that pretty much everybody on here has. We can't all be right all of the time just because we've all watched a lot of football, can we? After all, I've done loads of shits, but I'm not Gillian McKeith.
To say that a player is crap and claiming you are right just because you have watched a lot of football is bollocks. And many of those who claim to have played a lot never ever want to say who for - is it Inter Milan, Real Madrid or Red Star Hunter's Bar? If you are always correct in your summaries and opinions of footballers then why are you telling just us and not being paid a fortune to manage a professional football club? Surely the clubs of the world would be grateful for such expertise?
To say "I reckon he's shit, I've been watching ages and he seems shit to me" is one thing, but to say "He's shit because I've watched a lot of football and therefore I'm right because I've been going for longest and I used to play but I'm not telling you who for" is, frankly, cobblers.
