1997 studying for Law exams so turned the radio on at the end of the game hoping we'd got through only to hear "there's just a few seconds left before extra time Hopkin shoots" - -fuck!!
2003 after a brilliant night in Bristol with a lot of Blades we just didn't turn up. Probably the most disappointing 45 minutes ever in an important game.
2009 went on the train Burnley nowhere to be seen in central London so got overground train to Wembley and walked smack bang into thousands of them. Never liked them since they gave me a raggin when I was 10 years old. Again we were second best and this one really hurt.
2012 - Along with most Blades just numb because of the Evans affair and losing out to the Pigs. We didn't have any forwards again. It has to be one of the worst play off final games ever yet we still managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. A young Maguire keeping so called goal machine Rhodes in his pocket all game was the only redeeming feature. Andy Fuckin Taylor all he was on the pitch for was to put the ball in the net and he hit the post!! No other team could possibly have ever fucked up a penalty shoot out like we did. By the time Simonsen sent the ball into orbit we were physically drained from watching that dross.
How times have changed but its still hard to forget just how bad a set of bottlers we were as there has never been a happy play off final day in our history and hopefully there won't be one now for a long time to come.
