Signed until the end of the season, probably somewhere else on here just spotted it on BBC. We can relax now that big signing has stayed. It wouldn't surprise me if that was it for Jan.

Now we can relax and enjoy all his unseen work for the rest of the season.

Obviously we don't know what it is since its unseen, but I bet it's brilliant.

I would be happy to keep him if we weren't paying a large amount of his wages. He's hardly been brilliant so far but he's having more of an influence now.

How much are we paying?

Not necessarily. Didn't Cardiff famously pay only 1 of Bellamy ' s 33 weekly k's when on loan from City? Leicester may also recognise it's better for Hammond to be playing first team football elsewhere rather than merely training until his contract runs out with them.

Whilst I am not convinced of his contribution so far I think people are only desperate to find out what we are paying so it can be flung at him everytime he makes a mistake.

Same old mistakes, slow, 30+ yr old, ex premier league player on way down, mate of manager, on big wages...anyone think of anything else ?

If anyone is in any doubt watch the Peterborough game , especially one of their goals where he was so slow it was untrue.

I would agree with you if he was at a Championship club who was likely to buy him in the JTW. He's at a club who isn't.

In terms of flinging it at him, not the case for me. I'm more concerned that the Murphy money is being used to pay his wages when it could be better used somewhere else.

The worse he plays the higher the contribution. ;)

But he's got to play somewhere to attract interest? Playing here gives/gave him that chance with the added bonus of playing for (according to the script) a promotion winning team .

I wasn't slinging the mud specifically at you Robbie, but the general point is valid I feel.

By the end of the season I reckon most will look back and rate him a success. Been a bumpy start, but he'll be fine.

As for the money, he's only on loan.

As for the age, experience is vital so long as the attitude is right and the example set is a good one. One thing we've lacked is leaders, and Hammond is that.

I prefer seeing Basham, Coutts, Flynn, Baxter and even Reed on the team sheet to Hammond.
Although if you want to get behind Nigel 100% you've got to be happy with this signing. He's chosen him as our leader, he's set his sights high in that he's from one of the leading clubs in the country- and he's got his man. Managers live and die by decisions like this and although we'd all love a Coady rather than a slow,ex premiership footballer at the latter end of his career I still believe in Adkins and if this is his marquee signing then I support it.
Obviously we NEED a Burn type player too but this is a start and I firmly believe we'll have a centre half tied up before the end of the month as well.

I don't think we'll sign anyone Adkins has recently praised the 'spirit' amongst the lads so won't wish to upset that - our signings will be a loan and then rebuild next summer imo.
