Excellent result at Douglas Park against a strong Accies side filled with 1st team squad players.

A young side again this year for the U21s but it looks like it will develop the players quicker....
do you have the teamsheet and goal scorers mate

Decent crowd, around 200.

Perryman, Charlesworth, Trialist, Semple (Captain), Kelly, Gordon, Gilmoor, K Smith, T Smith, Wright, Hallam.

Hall on for Wright and scored, Slater on for Hallam and scored.

Trialist is a Spanish Centre Back and 19 years old. Defo not a first team player yet.

My information comes from a grandfather of a friend of mine who has followed the Academy for years.

It wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at the poster who said that it was played behind closed doors. Pal

One Jake Wright, there's only one ... er ...

Regan Slater has impressed me more and more every time I`ve seen him.

Not seen him do that before though!!

A cracking result against players 2 years and more older who are first team players.

I watched last nights game at Halifax and without a shadow of a doubt Semple, Gilmoor are by far better value budget wise than Wright and Reed.
Semple and Gilmoor are on a scholars wage of £100 a week. Wight and Reed approx £2k a week.......

Semple is captain of the 21s at 17 years old which at any standard is impressive. He now finds himself 5 choice at centre back. His pathway completely blocked, and we wonder why we lose our young players for peanuts !!

He may be your 5th choice but if Wilder thinks he's good enough I'm sure that he will map the pathway out for him.

For CW to push Semple in front of 3/4 of his new signings at Centre Back is a long shot for the lad.

That would mean CW has to admit he got new signings wrong. It's not going to happen.

I hope i am wrong, he is a genuine talent..... in my opinion.

All managers get signings wrong.

I think Wilder will play what he thinks is his best side however they arrived at BDTBL.

Of everything I've seen and heard from Wilder my favourite was the interview when he absolutely lambasted his then chairman at Northampton.

I'm confident that he is his own man, that he will pick whoever he wants, support the inevitable player sales, and that if the board do anything to upset him they will know about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong Larky but isn't Semple another lefty? That puts him 3rd choice at the moment - assuming that Wright is 2nd choice. Wilder's made more comments about Jake Wright the man than Jake Wright the footballer which leads me to think that he's identified a leadership void at the Lane. If young Callum continues to develop at the rate he's doing at the moment then he'll be in contention sooner rather than later: Wilder strikes me as more able to admit fault than, say, Clough.

The JPT will be a good chance for lads like Semple and Gilmour to show what they can do; it's up to them to prove that it's more than Wright and Reed.

I may be wrong.

But what's this "Wilder's his own man" thought?

The owners aren't going to sit back (again) and let some bloke who picks the Saturday team
run the club how he wants.

The chairman and in our case, chairmen, they decide. They give the finances. They pay the bills.
If Wilder was in charge, does anyone reckon we'll be scouring for free-transfers and kids?

Sell Che, get 50% of the transfer fee. Buy.
50% might be a little extravagant with SUFC.

It was the HAFC U20s..

Nothin' to get fussed about.

A win is a win..
It's a bit better than dipping at Halifax pal.
Hamilton had 6 under 20s and 6 first team playing.
SUFC had 1 u16, 3u17 and the rest u18. I think it shows promise.

Semple is a lefty centre back so yes I guess third choice.

All good

I'm guessing most people have read Warnock's book and the part about dropping Akinbye for Ships. How experienced managers aren't afraid to drop players they've recently signed, not afraid to admit their mistakes.
If CW is stubborn in this respect, he won't last long.
Whether he thinks Semple is ready or not is up to him and he gets paid to make those decisions. If he gets too many wrong, he'll be out of work, not me.
