Had it gone in would obviously have gone down in Blades best goals history. Gunn pulled off an amazing save.

Memories of Deane vs Liverpool from 1990 which is probably the longest goal we've ever scored? Deadbat correct me.

Hopefully the attachments work. Deane's goal is about 30 seconds into the clip. I was on the kop that day 😊

Tried to emulate the great Josh Windass

Hal's tweet makes me chuckle because I'm the same with Deane's goal. I was actually at that game as a 10 year old and in my mind's eye, it was hit right from the touchline and much nearer halfway
Me too! I was 10 as well and sat in the old Family Enclosure.

Best part is still Steve Nicol's 'attempt' to stop it

I have slightly lied actually, I was 12...I thought I'd seen 1990 in a previous link. I'm going to stop watching it now and leave it as being MUCH further out in my memory. In 30 year's time, Wednesday fans will be saying Windass hit his from Northern General

Didn’t Mel Rees debut in this game? Played an absolute blinder; bless him….

I remember Len Badger scoring from way out against Ipswich at home in 1971, the 7-0 game. In my mind's eye it was from near the half way line but I could have romanticised that bit as I don't think there was any footage of it.

Free kick from 50 yards by Graham Shaw v Portsmouth in September 1960. Cuttings from HodgysBrokenThumb

Hamer didn’t have the advantage of the old floodlights. Graham Shaw waited for darkness to descend, and then lifted the ball high above the area illuminated by the lights, and the ball travelling through the darkness was a nightmare for the goalie to see. I used that excuse more than once in my goalkeeping career🤣

Glyn Hodges and Mike Lake liked to have a blast or two as well.

Our win at Notts County that day pretty much sealed County's relegation. Blades fans, sympathetic as ever, chanted, "Yer going down cos yer shit, Down cos yer shit!"

I used to try and emulate both those goals as a kid…do a zico lake we called it!
Hodges…I think as a kid I helped by telling my dad to buy a raffle ticket to sign him. Left foot like me and I loved him as a player for us just as much as Deeeeano

All you young uns think we've had a better all round striker than Deane in the last 40 years watch these. Billy and Edwards were brilliant finishers. Beattie illy were class but Deane could do it all and frequently had to. As a partnership with Agana nothing else comes close.

Deane in those first couple of top flight seasons was a striker that a lot of the top teams defences were worried about. He caused them all sorts of problems.

And he did it in the top division.
Best player of my lifetime (since 84).
