CONFIRMED Hamer joins Coventry

I had no issue at all with them but now I've seen enough. Will be checking on this clown whenever they get dicked next season. It's like they've had their first beer. This is just a tiny taste of how insufferable Wednesday would be as well. Must be the nearly 25 years of being utter wank that makes them so giddy. Such a nothing club/place my instinct is usually pity for clubs like them. They'll soon find out how fun the Premier league is. I'm sure they'll make lots of rivals in their own imagination while they're up there though.

You look at the money spent by West Ham (£120-130m) , Burnley (approx £100m) & Wolves (circa £125m) & were all relegated. All three of those teams had also been in the Prem over recent years so already had Premiership squads that they were adding to.

Its not impossible for Coventry to stay up, I don't really care if they do or don't, but I certainly dont think Hamer makes any difference to their season. If they do stay up, then Hamer will 100% be surplus. There's no chance a second season Premiership team like Leeds or Sunderland would sign Hamer right now

If Cov play 4-5-1 and Gus plays off a big striker I could see him contributing. They'd benefit from his set pieces and the odd goal and assist. I don't see how he fits in a four for the reasons you've outlined. A three would be difficult too.

We had a superb athlete in Vini and even that was struggle with Gus.The average Prem mid is tall and extremely athletic. The defensive transitions are pivotal.

1. Buying a player off another club is a normal thing, not a personal attack on the selling club, not something to be avenged
2. Buying the player back isn’t “Karma” for an imagined wrongdoing, because we didn’t do anything wrong in buying him. Also, our current manager had nothing to do with it
3. We didn’t care about your club or owners one way or another until your selective “protest whistling” (only when we were attacking) became a tactic to put our players off. Watch the match back.
4. We still don’t care about you or your owners
5. We will carry on as a club without Gus, as good as he was

There recruitment has been a lot better than ours in the recent years.

I have no issues with Coventry. The fans i have met have always been absolutely fine (fair enough the older generation)! I think they are a good bet to stay up as they have 4 ready-made players and have added a centre back and that centre mid from Ghana that a lot of teams were circling around.

There GK is ready made for the PL. Same as that Van Ewijk and Rudoni

I think the turn of this thread over the last page or two sums up where I'm at. He's more important to us and likely more impactful for us this season, than he would be to them. But once a deal is inevitable, get the most you can for him. He would likely contribute well for us, but will likely underwhelm for them, at a level up. I would've seen him as helping us to try for promotion, but then reinvestment and replacements would be needed to try and stay there.

3 seasons there, 1 in the PL and 2 decent ones in the championship

Coventry will enjoy having him back, at least after this season

That assumes that becoming the England manager is a progressive step for a manager.

In my opinion, international management is what you do when you can’t be arsed to be a club manager anymore, or have failed at it but are still a big name. Lampard should have years ahead of him where he doesn’t have to do that.
