I don’t blame Coventry or Hamer, they know him well they also know that his contract is down to the last year so can get him a good price also they know we’re desperate for money plus he’s 29 years old not a bad age and he’s not been offered another suitable contract, they also can offer 4 years of wages probably improved terms and also offer him premier league football where we are selling our better players to stay afloat and look like we if vey very lucky could finish in a play off position or more likely not! It’s a no brainer.

On a plus (if there is one) we settle up with Coventry I think we owe them £4 million based on his fee being spread and end up with a players wage off the books and a bit of change

Its not down to selles either, the constants are still at the club... Bettis, Hoyland etc, don't tell me you think recruitment is done by the managers still. Says it enough times in press conferences that its down to those guys
Do you think Bettis has any say in budgets or football decisions? Do you think Hoyland or previously Mitchell were working without a plan from above??

Breaking News now on Sky Sports.

Fee agreed £6m + add ons

I think that fee is fair enough. We should have been having the sign a new contract or we look to sell you conversations 12 months ago whrn he still had 2 years on his contract. But we let him roll it down to 1 year.... and here we are.

That's basically a free transfer for a Prem team. Congrats Blades staff.

Maybe so, but when you consider his current wage will probably be another £1.5m for the remainder of his contract, that equates to £7.5m to write off on an unhappy player who wants to go, if we turn it down. Thats a lot of money to write off for a skint championship club.

Yes and no. When it condemns us to more likely scrapping at the bottom than the top (half), we should have drawn a line in the sand. Coventry can afford £10m. And they can't get many better players than him, certainly not that know the club and is already loved by the fans.

Had a quick look on the Coventry City fans forum and they are stating it’s £6 million for Hamer I’m hoping there’s some money for CW for at least a loan or 2 now
Are they the same people who seem to know the specifics around what we still owe for him?

More made up nonsense by Coventry fans.

You mean the truth where, in that said game, you were blowing your whistles every time the Blades attacked, but conveniently kept them out of your gobs every time Coventry attacked?
We wanted the game disrupting just like the others. We've weren't interested in winning. We were after a response from the FA as well as trying to put pressure on our owners. If the game had got abandoned you would have got the 3 points and our owners would have got a fine. It would have put it on the back page of the newspapers.

The problem was...and still is....there's supposed to be a fit and proper test. But there's constantly bad owners taking over clubs. The FA turns a blind eye and just continues.

Now you have a bad owner. If he takes you lower you will start to understand. You will see the football community sticks together. If you reach the stage of having to protest you will see that you're not alone.

A Poxy 6 Million - City are holding out for 75 million for Rodri. It feels like we are on a par with the likes of Oxford.

Good post - but I don’t think there is as much interest in Peck as there thought there would be. More likely it Seriki will be sold - as 2 offers from the sane club already so even if say £2 million upfront & £4 million after 12 months - I can see that happening. Seriki’s head has been turned & his agent will be on it!
Give it a rest fella

We can only guess the details. Nothing will come from our club at all.

Maybe the 6m is the fee after taking into consideration the last payment to be made. Nearly 10m sounds a more fair price. I know he was in his last year of his contract, but he was also in his last year when you bought him.

It is useable anyway as it can be used to borrow against although we would incur interest charges

It is not like running a corner shop

Regardless of the fee, I think this is a killer transfer. With Brooks & now Hamer gone, with seemingly no money to adequately replace either of them, I genuinely don’t know where our supply of goals and assists come from. We’re going to lose a lot of games 1-0, teams will draw our sting, score and then I don’t know how we unlock a team. Going to be an absolute disaster, this season. We’ll really do well not to be in another relegation battle. We are weaker in every facet of the team than we were last season and that was wank enough.

Have we not seen what running a club like a game and not a business leads to … take a look at our neighbours , things aren’t ideal but what is ? This summer was always gonna be a massive challenge and reset … it was a known 30m shortfall plus tighter financial rules so what’s the club supposed to do you’ve all got your own solutions … good luck Hamer , for me good money and let’s hope Coventry stay up cos that’ll be the add on bit of the deal
