Not enough difference to alter the fact that we almost always played him on the left.

Otherwise, he's been really settled and happy here, nice property in a nice area, regular in our village local, partner from the area.

It's just a shame no one else was in for him, so we couldn't manufacture a bit of a bidding war given our finances. But still, £6m, plus £1m saved in wages, plus add-ons (let's hope they aren't based on Premier League survival!) and saving on the remaining structuring of the original deal takes us to at least the £9.75m mark for someone in the last year of their deal, which will be helpful.

The difference being that we’ve been wise to the bullshit from COH from the start, you had a few years of thinking SISU were good before you turned on them.

Yup. Despite the noise, his most effective moments for us were playing off the left and drifting inside. He was hard to track from that position.

Whenever he moved central he seemed too easy to mark unless the game was stretched. And I’m not counting his prem appearances in the middle - nobody should infer a thing from that debacle.


PS - final Gustavo counterfactual…. If he’d been fit enough to play 90 minutes, I think we’d probably have won the playoff final. The best ability is availa….. blah blah.
