Except for certain rare instances , there comes a time when all footballers' relationship with their club becomes stale and that's the stage we're at with Hamer.
No hard feelings , just time for a change.

The only benefit I see for Coventry is they have a good player for the Championship when/if they come down. Very SUFC signing Luke Freeman of them (And him turn out crap and overweight even in the Championship)

Will Hull part with Geldhardt though ?
I thought he was on loan to Hull last season and was still a Leeds United player?

Not sure Hull will want him back in the Premier League, but I think he’d be a great acquisition for us if he was available.

If all goes to plan, you will see him play at Bramall Lane in the opening day fixture

Let him go, for whatever we can get for him. He's in last year of his contract. He's probably not going to put a shift for fear of getting injured. Many of his performance last year where mediocre. Struggling after 60 mins.
Not sure he would hacket in the Premiership.
Time for both parties to move on.

Trouble is, it's not what you k ow it's who you know and we've done so little bidness with Leeds....

Luke Thomas?

We need him off the wage bill! If we had a realistic chance of promotion I would agree with you, but we need to balance the finances first and get that stable so we don't end up like the pigs down the road.
100% this....also, do we have a realistic chance of promotion? The top two slots are pretty much decided in Wolves & West Ham (I'm sure some will disagree but I can't see any one competing with them two) so realistically we're gambling on keeping Hamer for the chance of one of the remaining spots. With our history of Play-Offs I'm not going into this season the most optimistic Blade in town.

Surely new(ish) owners didn't pay 110 million for the club, only to have zero ambition of Prem after only 1 and half seasons. Thought they were money men with good contacts looking for extra £ inputs? 5m for Gus for 1 more season is peanuts in football terms? Coventry have just received 180 million and so far spent nowt - surely you'd hold out for minimum 10-12 million regardless of 1 more year.

City in similar situation have turned down 45 million for an injured Rodri who is on 10x what Gus is on. Need someone in the club who is much bolder on negotiation.

Same with Peck - the price is 15 million or FO.

Say we dont accept a bid from Coventry (or any other team), I cant see Hamer giving his all. He will pull out of tackles that he would normally commit to just in case he suffers a major injury that will deter clubs signing him.

You can’t question Hamer’s commitment- if he remains a Blades player he will give 100% without question.

Gus pulling out of tackles is probably a good thing. As soon as window shuts I think Gus just gets on with it - he's already proved he is no 'mardy arse'. Main thing is if its 5 million keep for a year (to replace him is 20 Million) - Coventry offer 12-15 million off he pops with everyone clapping him away.

I beg to differ when it comes to getting a long term contract in his homeland at the end of the year with a very juicy signing on bonus.

I'd imagine with most clubs its a game of brinkmanship . Assessing the financial situation of the buyer , the seller doing the same , whos need is greater , how far can you push it , whats the value to them and us etc.

Its a game within the game, trying not to blink 1st , agents fielding stories of other interested parties .

Every club ultimately wants the players they need for the best price they can negotiate whilst the clock ticks .

Outside those super clubs throwing 100's of millions about , its the same for everyone.

Lets see where we are when the music stops in a few weeks time.

Let's hope we are asking for a big fee. Cov have got plenty of cash, so let them stump up.

Has he took refereeing up then ?

Birmingham after him I think

In a few weeks time 🤔 didnt wilder say he wanted the signings up and running pre season? And last seasons recruitment wasn't happening again...

It's almost as if we haven't got the dosh.
Or maybe we're just playing hardball.
Or maybe our owners - whoever thay may be, know the square root of F. all about football dealings and its machinations and either have or have not the money.
Don't forget we've no absolute owner who calls the shots so everything has to be done via committee it seems.. Lol.
But on the other hand it's just a clever ploy to indicate to agents that while we really really want your player it's just a bit too much for us but in any event we've other players who want to come here anyway.
The fact that we actually need new players NOW seems to have eluded the owners.
So, fwiw I reckon we've not got the money. And that's it.
Methinks they'll need bloody good Lawyers to bat the Prince away, but who knows.
Maybe the Prince picks us up for peanuts when he puts SUFC Club, intto potential liquidation.
