Don't know if its been mentioned

Sorry if it is, couldn't be arsed to browse

From what im led to believe you have offered £1.8 million with a view to it rising to around £2.5

Don't know how true, but got a good little player if thats right

Been put in the rumour mill section before yes heard about that amount bit expenisve would love it sign him for less

I have to admint that i have never seen this kid play, but the fee that is being quoted is ridiculous for a player who is out of contract in 6 months and has no top flight experience.

I don't feel we are in any desperate need for a player in his position so we should wait the 6 months and save ourselves some cash.

Not sure if he actually only has 6 months remaining, or whether the statement indicated from us means he is 6 months further in to his contract.

Edit: just checked, he does only have 6 months left.

Thats if the rumours are true.

We will spend to much on players i think

Releasing how much we had to spent was a silly thing to do now people know they can try and draw money out of us!

Even offering what looks like way over the odds though, clubs aren't selling at seemingly silly prices. Does that mean the players are actually worth more than the millions offered to the teams they're playing for, or are they just playing poker and hoping we'll be driven to offer more?

If we've been turned down for what (at the prices allegedly bid) must have been our top 2 transfer targets, it'll be interesting to see where we go from here. I don't want to pay crazy money for unproven players, but we do need to strengthen - Webber doesn't look up to it upfront and we can't just rely on Hulse and the odd 60 mins from Nade.

The problem is that Colchester and Preston have very little to lose by waiting until the end of the window before accepting any bids.

They want to get as much as possible for the players so they will wait until clubs get desperate at the end of the window before accepting any offers.

If they wait so long that the interested clubs go elsewhere, they still get to keep their star players.

This transfer window plays directly into the hands of the selling clubs and the bottom line is that we will end up paying over the odds regardless of who we sign.

Tiz very frustrating!

Well they can't wait until deadline day cos that would end up leaving them without their star player and insufficient time to get a replacement, but they certainly have no reason to sell in the first week of the window.
And I agree - the window idea is a complete waste of time and one of the worst ideas in modern football. I just can't see any positive aspects of it...
