Why did Wilder & Knill sit this out? The players need their Manager at H/T surely, he's the motivator, the voice of experience, the voice they need isn't he? Didn't unserstand that. It was like the players thought quick the gaffer isn't here lets get pissed and stagger around in the second half.

It was strange and I haven't seen Wilder do this before. Managers usually do do something similar when a team has been piss poor first half.
I guess the thinking was, no need to change or say anything, just keep on doing what you're doing. Back fired badly though.

He didn’t sit it out, he just spent a few minutes talking to his management team before going into the dressing room. According to the Sky commentator, Lampard and his team did exactly the same thing only he and his team sat in another room. The co-com then said they it’s become common practice for managers to spend a few minutes away from the players at half time then go in and to the dressing room, so it looks like the only news here is that Wilder used the dugout for his management meeting instead of a spare room.

And to put any conspiracy theories to bed, our decline started immediately after we scored, not after half time. :)

Yes most managers, take a few minutes before going in, to let the players discuss things amongst themselves for a short period. First time I've seen a manager use the dug out though. Although some have just had the team talk on the pitch after playing poorly.

This ^^^^^^

And it's also not a new thing with our managers. Warnock often used to spend a few minutes by himself with a cuppa to gather his thoughts before going in. Sound practice if you ask me, a good half-time talk can win a match. Take some time to run through it in your head I say.

Not a new thing to gather thoughts etc before going in, but you ever seen a manager have a mini meeting in the dug out before?
And whatever was said at the break had the opposite effect.

Usual accurate take on events.

Personally no, but as others have said above Lampard did it, if not for as long. And management teams do syphon off into separate rooms regularly before speaking to the players. My Warnock example probably wasn't the best to be fair.

If we'd won it would have been a master stroke from Chris, if we win everyone's happy, lose & people pick up on shit like this let Chris run the club how he wishes 2 run it. Don't think he's done Abad job so far. UTB.

Correct, so what’s the difference between a chat in the dug out and a spare room? If the Sky cameras hadn’t been there and picked up on it few would have even noticed it, and we hadn’t conceded late on it would barely have got a mention. You seem to be trying to make something out of nothing.
