How difficult can the club make it to order a pint? Last time we were allowed in the bottom kop had a dedicated beer kiosk. That's gone. So the queues take longer. We used to have beer vouchers. They've now gone so the queues take longer.

No, a pint isn't the bee-all-and-end-all so some might suggest it's moaning for nowt. But the queues tell a different story. And the computer system went down at one point, and because there's no cash any more, the card machines weren't working (though I accept this isn't the fault of any individual).

It's just poor organisation. Does anyone on here have any input with the club to pass the message on? I've also noticed the ticket office standards have slipped this season and seems understaffed on the occasions I've been in.

Just thought I'd mention it that's all. ✌️

Everything is always worse if we are losing, on the plus side, getting in a half time after attempting to get in earlier than usual meant that there were no issues for us queuing for owt once inside... that option was taken away :)

These would be insignificant issues if we were winning at top of the league. What’s the beer like in the ground btw? Not a big drinker of alcohol so never bothered buying one.

The club is a complete shambles from top to bottom. Two years ago everything looked great but we seem to be reverting to the same tinpot club we were during most of McCabe’s tenure.

The brainwave to switch from bottles to cans in Westfield corner makes a half time beer practically impossible without missing 10 mins of the first half. Not a slur on the staff but without anything pre-poured its a complete joke watching kids very slowly and very badly pour shit beer.

Even a pre-match beer in ground is painful. Simple solution to that, me and the old man go to the pub instead. Fine. But it's taken a bit of the build up away which I know he likes.

its an aspect of matchday our club has never taken seriously. Shoddy.

I had to leave early yesterday ( long standing do ) so left at 4-15 was amazed to see hundreds still drinking at bottom of kop, as im usually watching the match at said time is this the normal, seems odd pay good money to watch a game then spend most of the game drinking

The till points in the South stand (kop end) were only at about 40% capacity so they'll have missed out on a few quid of revenue there. They normally use young staff so am wondering whether it's a conscious choice not to open more or it's due to staffing shortages (students not around).

The catering at matches has been abysmal for years in terms of choice, quality, and service, not to mention price.

Hence why I very rarely buy anything.

On a personal level it's no issue to me as I'm not fussed anyway but to try and suggest it's moaning for the sake of moaning is a bit daft when clearly a lot of fans are pissed off by it.

Just another example of football fans not being seen as customers.

Everything about the club seems really shoddy at the moment on and off the pitch, really poorly ran.
I really don't know why the voucher system has gone. Its so easy to implement and means far less queueing times. If they sell 100 vouchers, pour 100 pints. Its so simple and saves the queues. It might seem like I'm picking but at the same time, they're losing out on quite a bit of cash.

If we were 6-0 up after 15 minutes, the queues wouldn't be any better and they wouldn't serve ale any quicker.

I had a beer at 3pm with no queue whatsoever. But that's not my point. Half time is where the issues are.

The card machines were playing up at 2.15 on the kop kiosks
Considering this is an obvious issue that CAN occur, to not have cash as back up payment is short-sighted. I know its not as easy as "machines are down, revert to cash", but why cash is banned is a mystery.

Won't buy anything in ground ... daylight robbery

When the Prince finally persuades one of his rich family to invest and rebuild the Lane (that is after Slav's team reconstruction), perhaps we could have Bars like Spurs?

Apparently Middlesbrough of all clubs have those rapid pour machines that fill from the bottom up. Takes a fraction of the time. Simple stuff like that really makes my teeth itch that we don't have it. I mention it because Spurs have them

Is the catering at the Lane a franchise ? If so the club have got the desired rent / rate they asked for and are not bothered if the franchise company are not performing, having said that the club should take note of what the punters on this thread are complaining about and kick some ass

Whilst we have a teenager pouring fizzy beer from a can into a plastic cup which takes an age.

Like I said above, it's not the most important of issues at the club currently. But as I've also said, it's oh so easy to sort it out. I applauded the voucher system. It's so simple and saves so much time. They used to have (for a very brief time) the bottle boy (big rucksack full of bottles of carling), again, saved time and queues. They've made something that wasn't exactly brilliant, worse. Yesterday was actually the first time I've had a pint in the ground this season. It won't be the last, but I won't be in a rush next time.

Is it an actual can? I know there are security issues (not to mention the ridiculous law that you cannot drink in view of the pitch) with people taking cans up to the stands, but why can't they just let you drink from the can? How many people actually take cans onto the seats? And at the price they charge, who would lob it? Seems like overkill regards health and safety really.

You're right, it isn't the be-all-and-end-all, each to their own should be free to take it or leave it.

The issue is, those who want to take it, can't. The infrastructure just isn't good enough.

And how is a bottle of water/ hot coffee (which you are allowed) any less of a missle than a bottle/ can of beer.

On the plus side in the John Street Morreti and neck oil is cheaper than a lot of normal pubs/ bars (if you miss half the match to to queue for it)

I'm normally one of those who is queuing before half time for a pint but didn't bother yesterday. Walked onto the kop gangway 5 mins before half time. Down at the bars below was a heaving mass of people, all waiting for the bars to open. It was obvious that the waiting time would be at least 20 minutes, so I didn't bother.

The pie kiosks at the top of the kop steps weren't open either, so you had to go down the bottom for food even if you didn't want a pint.

I blame Wilder.

I imagine all those who couldn’t get in until half time could have done with a drink when they finally gained access.

On the plus side, they only needed to suffer 45 minutes of the game, not a full 90 like most people 🙂

Said it before, but they should look to operate in-house. Get some local suppliers onboard, including rotating some of the excellent breweries that the city is famous for.

I don’t know why they don’t pour x amount of pints 10-15 minutes before half time. The data will be there to understand the minimum average we sell each game, so they wouldn’t go to waste.

Aren’t choices great ?
