Have you had any bets on the Charlton game?
I have got Blades to win 2-1 (9/1) and Scougall to score anytime during the game (6/1).

Porter is 6.5/1 for 1st goal mmmmmmm

I've had 25 quid on Charlton to win!?

I don't want to win the bet of course, it is just a kind of insurance. If we win I'll be happy as Larry. A draw would not be the end of the world, as (living in London) I'd get a trip to Charlton. I'll be gutted if we lose, but at least I'd have 100 sheets (odds were 9/4) if it does.

I did the same for the Fulham home game. I never back United. Not because of a lack of confidence in us, but more the jinx element. I prefer to have financial consolation if we lose and am always happy if we win.

I realise I run the risk of not being called a proper Blade etc, but I am a trained economist and tend to approach situations rationally.

Why? I've done this many times and am happy to lose the bet. I can't make it on Sunday (being in London) and will be watching in the pub. I am going to put the cost of a match ticket (£20) on Charlton to win. I don't want to win but in the event we're knocked out at least I'll have covered all the travel, food & ale for the day. I have also put individual bets on Utd (first goalscorrer etc) but never just a single bet on us to win. Us winning is reward enough.
