I am really happy after watching a match for the first time in a long time.

Bar Robinsons moment of madness we were brilliant tonight and could have had 4 or 5 should have had four at least.

I thought Hamer was our M. O. M he terrorised Boros defence and really put them on the back foot throughout his vision and creativity is a real game changer for us and he is a big miss when he isn't available.

His through ball into O'Hare was top drawer we certainly deserved to go one up.

Sydie Peck another brilliant performance from the lad he really is developing into a top class player at championship level he showed great vision with his through ball to slide Diaz in and Diaz obliged with a top class finish which was a thing of beauty.

Callum O Hare was top drawer again we missed him he was all over the place and with and Hamer bombing forward we always have a chance he is one of our key midfielders for me.

I thought Anel was brilliant tonight also after a few shaky performances of late he was bang at it tonight and solid at the back made some good runs and got a deserved goal tonight.

The only slight criticisms i have i will list below.

Cannon needs to show a bit more anticipation in the box and read the game better had he been alert he possibly coukd have got a goal.

Our centre halfs with the shirt pulling is a bit of a concern Robinson does it time and time again and Anel had a little pull of the shirt too.

Campbell is also a lucky boy that his selfish decision didn't cost us the game bevause that was one of the worst bits of greedy play i have ever seen from a Blades player.

That said overall i thought we were brilliant tonight and we were bang at it from the start and i thought Wilder got his team selection spot on and a good use of subs tonight.

Big well done to Chris and the lads tonight i thought it was a great team performance and it is nice to be able to come on and praise the lads for a job well done and had it finished 4 or 5 it wouldn't have flattered us.

Leeds playing Sunderland next if Leeds get a win or draw and we beat Luton we have the chance to make the gap between us and Sunderland 7 or 8pts which will be huge for us at this stage of the season.

Onwards and upwards now UTB⚔️

Shirt pulling happens in every game with every team. It's not madness Robinson was doing it or that their players were doing it back. What's madness is you either enforce it across the board or you don't. Can't pick and choose.

Well said, will we see other refs give penalties for it now....nope is my answer..

Refs committe will be phoning him in the morning ...let's not have any more of that!

If you’re going to give a penalty for that, there will be 10 a match. Both were at it ,stupid decision from a ridiculous referee. Excellent performance, shape, balance, selection and individual performance much improved. Well done Wilder and co.

There was another clear one on O'Hare just before Campbell broke through one on one with the keeper. I get the referee not seeing it as he was behind play and we broke forward so quickly, but aren't linesman called assistant referees now and they should be bringing this to his attention? After Campbell fluffed the chance the referees could have booked the player retrospectively if the "assistant" had been paying attention.

Look at JLT and Anel here, one being assaulted and the other having his shirt pulled!
FFS. In that one shot we have Robinson being "cuddled" by (I think) Ayling, Anel having his shirt pulled just behind, and another blatant shirt pull on O'Hare at the back!!

A lot was going off in that game it was hard to keep track.

I would rather knownone was pulling anyones shirts and Robinson should not have reacted to what was obviously a provocation, because unjust or not there is always that risk. But that was purely down to the referee, there could have multiple penalties for either side and any other player could end up being to blame on the basis of that decision. If shirt pulling is a foul, you either give it every time (and I wish they would) or if you clearly see something that is sustained and egregious. He could only have caught a glimpse of what happened, without seeing it started and ended with Edmondson who was active throughout the confrontation.

That is exactly it for me it is the reactions especially we dont want another situation like we had with Anel against Coventry.

I don't have any problem with Hamer winning MOTM as he was excellent and has been for a while but for me it was Peck, then maybe O'Hare.
The only reason I wouldn;t give it O'Hare was he should have scored when Hamer put him through but dithers and fortunately JRS is on hand to finish and then he had a another big chance and failed to take it. Those aside, he was everywhere and making a big impact, was involved in lots of good play, closing down and basically being a constant nuisance to the Boro defenders.

Peck was brilliant. Exactly what we missed in the Portsmouth. Peck has just about everything in midfield, if he starts scoring he'll start attracting attention from the Premier League big boys. Everything about that ball he played to put BBD in was perfect, the way he picked it up, drove into space and then played a perfectly weighted ball into BBD's run. The movement and finish by BBD was perfect too to be fair. A great goal.

And Norwich

The grandson said the same driving him home.

I told him that our dominance in that match was more down to Norwich….who for some reason….made no effort to score.
Never seen anything like it…when 2 down…they seemed to be time wasting aimlessly passing it around the back.

Don’t think we were as impressive in that game as we were tonight and against Oxford.
However I do agree the Norwich win was shockingly comfortable…..almost boringly easy.

Think we finally clicked tonight……the mentality and positive attacking attacks were right…..maybe Wilder has fallen onto something
…we looked like a well coached team tonight.

Very little playing out from the back need we say more
Absolutely, hopefully Wilder has knocked the playing out from the back, tactic on the head. We don’t have the personnel to do it successfully, we just invite the opposition onto us, but aren’t then able to pass our way through them, which I believe is the objective of such playing style?

Tonight was the most entertaining home performance that we’ve produced for a long time. Actually pressing their defence and getting the ball forward quickly, everyone playing with attacking purpose from start to finish, brilliant to see after the dreadful half arsed performances against Hull and Portsmouth.

Long may it continue UTB 😉

Resort where’s it’s due, great performance! Wilder actually played players where the needed to be and it showed

We totally need this to continue

Best all round performance for a long while .. played with a high tempo on the front foot .. when we play like that we’re a match for anyone in the division. .. after Sats performance you couldn’t get more chalk & cheese 👍⚔️
That is what i have been crying out for we are at our best when we play on the front foot.

Let the opposition worry about us not the other way around.

it was a really good watch. Worth getting up at 03.45 to watch it before coming to work for 12 hours.
it was an all round performance where everyone contributed in some way.
Cooper had little to do, but when called upon, made some good saves.
Defence solid, handling everything (although it wasnt much) that they could throw at us. The fullbacks managed to get forward well at times.
Vini Souza and Peck were awesome as the 2 central midfielders. Vini Souza performed as the strong enforcer and Peck with the MOTM performance IMHO was the driving force behind everything good that we did.
Hamer was quality for the first 30 minutes but was clearly protecting his Hamstring after that and became a bit less effective. Hopefully the risk of keeping him on the pitch for so long will not bite us on the arse as he is our main attacking outlet and, as shown on the weekend, we were a bit lost without him.
O'Hare had a really good game and chased everything, causing them some real problems. As said in the thread about him, he needs to work on a few things to be a real asset (final ball/finishing) but performances like today will do for now.
Rak Sakyi was dangerous for a half but clearly tired in the second half. He's more effective now as he is going left and right as opposed to cutting in onto his left almost every time.
Cannon was off the pace and is still adapting to life with us. He seems to be reactive as opposed to making the runs in anticipation at receiving the ball.

The subs that came on were effective too with BBD offering something different and making some good runs (Cannon take note) for balls to be played through, and Campbell offering the strength and movement that put additional pressure on their back line. Poor decision in hindsight not to square for BBD but if he had put it away, no one would have cared.

One further positive is that you now look at our bench and we have options to change things around with good players that should keep the starting 11 on their toes. Only a month ago, we had 1 or 2 senior players and the rest made up by academy players with little to no first team experience. This will be further improved with Moore getting back to fitness in the next week or so.

Totally agree with the OP. The best, most enjoyable performance of the season for me, given the decent quality of the opposition too.

I think that's rather disingenuous. We needed more options, which we now have, and particularly from 70 mins we have genuine options to bring on rather than having to see it out with the players already on the pitch.

Great performance. Can we have that as the norm please instead of the tippy tappy shit we have endured most of the season ! UTB

Last night we looked something like the way we played in the first promotion to the PL after coming up from L1
The players looked confident, they were patient, the daft mistakes were minimal, the structure and movement was good,we looked to impose ourselves on them, and considering we were dealing with a half decent team it needs to be a sign that we are ready to hit peak form at the right time.

The difference for me last night to other matches was players keeping the ball and running with it. Rak-Sakyi, Hamer and O'Hare constantly kept it and drove forward with it and this invited players to come to them and created space. Previously we'd just stand around static and pass it backwards and sideways until opponents dropped back deep and made a wall for us to try to break through. We'd have all the possession and do nothing meaningful with it. Last night we faced forwards and sent everything forwards and it made a huge difference. This is what opponents have recently been doing to us using our formation against us more effectively.

Key difference for me was O'Hare, Hamer and Rak-Sakyi dropping into the pocket between their midfield and defence and our defence actually playing the ball into them rather than just going across the back and out wide. Allowed us to link up defence and attack so much better

Very little playing out from the back need we say more

That's because Boro allowed us to come forward.

Hull and Pompey kept a very high line, forcing us to go square and backwards and then inevitably punt it long, then thanks to playing two CDM's, (against Pompey anyway) they quickly regained possession and exploited the acres of space between the strikers and the midfield, especially with no COH against Pompey. We need to get better at that, the lower teams are going to come and do exactly the same.

That said, we have won 5 of the last 6 and that's all that matters!!!
