Quite simply one of the greatest chants of all. But we've plenty others which are our own which should be celebrated and never be allowed to die:-

Barrel of Money
No Pig Fans in Town
Swinging a Pig
I'm a Rambler
Wednesday Bastards, Leeds Scum
And those bastards Manure

There's a lot of maggots in a gallon....and you warm them up i your mouth allegedly....plus the fuckers turn into flies! I fucking hate flies.

Flies, eh?IMG_0281.JPG
Packet of woodbines, pinch of snuff (tobacco products traditionally consumed with alcohol), night out in Sheff (more alcohol references), chip butty (sustenance following a night on the booze)
A:Gallon of magnet (strong beer)
B:Gallon of maggots (rediculously large quantity of bait for course fishing)
One of these answers is completely out of kilter with the consistent recurring theme of our anthem.

I rest my case.

Bollocks, it's maggots

Maggots.........

Brighton are a bunch of cheapskates...

They nicked Worcester's theme tune!

That must be the one that goes:

I say, old chap
I like Worcester, don't you know?
I stop to watch the City
On my way to drink champagne
Before my house gets flooded
By the Severn

I suppose Brighton have just changed the last line to "By the sea".

Obviously a man with more money than myself. Where do you use them?

Northern rivers - Tyne, Till, Eden, Lune, Ribble - it's a bit of a fallacy about salmon fishing being expensive, day tickets on some of these are £20/£25.
Won't be long before the Don gets a run of salmon....

Worcester has a theme tune?
Cool.;)

Haha...

I made a mistake, Brighton haven't pinched it, my dad was listening to it whilst I was watching the snooker instead and he misinformed me saying it was our theme..it was just a tune they usually play on our local radio Hereford and Worcester!

So apologies Brighton...

And we will stick with our tune ta...bikinis optional!!! :)

Caught a few minutes of the play-off game between Reading and Fulham and just happened to be watching at the start of the second half.

The crowd half-heartedly singing "Sweet Caroline" before it tailed off got me thinking: "What? Is that Reading's anthem then?"

Well, if you can call it an "anthem" it is (of sorts).

Tbh I was embarrassed on football's behalf

Could well be 'Hi-Ho Silver Lining' and 'Sweet Caroline' at Wembley.

Two fucking diabolical songs that belong in the toilet.

Much like the clubs that sing 'em.

I mainly do pole fishing, but occasionally go fly fishing at Thornton Reservoir or Rutland. I must give Draycote a try sometime soon, too.

GCB is about a day/night at the football
It is not about a day out fishing
It has nothing to do with chuffin fishin

A pint of Maggots is what older Sheffield gents used to say when asking for a pint of Magnet. In other words, which ever version you prefer to sing you are referring to the self same thing.

Maggots/Magnet.. thrill/fill ..whatever..

Can we just agree to sing the end properly, none of this rushed nananaooh

Listen from 3:30 onwards.. this is how we used to sing it. Slow, clear, powerful. Beautiful. (besides who needs an excuse to watch this match again :D)

Absolutely spot-on about the "na-na-na-na-na-naaaaaa" being rushed these days, Tom.

Back in the day, it was always a "na-na-na-na-naaaaaaaa-na...Ooh" completely in time with Denver's original, followed by a second "na-na-na-na-na-na...ooh...ooh" with a double "ooh".

I did wonder about the pace of the ending. It's like no one wants to be left out of doing the 'ooh' so they do it too soon. It seems that, if done properly and together, it has the affect of being a bit intimidating (or is that just me?)

When did it start getting rushed and how on earth do you get everyone to do it properly?

Not everyone would be keen, but one way would be to keep the song playing in the background so we can keep the timing. I'd rather we didn't do that but i'd still like to go back to the slower version

Otherwise we'd need something like a sing along with Wilder conducting :)

One of the original concrete bowls - I distinguished myself there last week with a blank

I've been giving Ladybower a go the last couple of years. It helps that it doesn't cost me owt, but it is getting better and better. Caught six two weeks ago including two over 4lbs and one over 7lbs. Put em all back cos I don't like eating them.

That's good fishing, Robby - to be honest, I fish catch and release nowadays, as I don't like killing them. Had some great fishing on Snake Meadow at Ladybower years ago when I first started fly fishing, best was probably about 4lb.
