Obviously it has to go down as a good win in the sense of how needed it was.
But genuine question ( not a moan!!) because I am wondering if I have become too critical and should just accept the points and run.
I thought we played quite well in small parts but IMO Donny were absolutely all over us at times and we really struggled to deal with them.
So ...but for some great last ditch defending, a couple of good saves, a stone wall hand ball against Brayford not given and a shocking miss from the lad with a free header at the end .. Could it have been different ??
So help me out .. Take your emotion out of it and give me your opinion as to whether that was a fair result all things considered ?
I'm sure loads will say "who cares" but I am thinking about how we are actually playing ahead of the play offs .
Appreciate your views.

Don't know how we pulled it off. I'm putting it down to the brilliance of Done and Davies. Shame in his post match interview NC said said he can't fit them both in the same side??? Did I mishear him or did they both play brilliant in the same team?

Loads of luck for once but, as you say, who cares. Donny didn't get the penalty to even up the blatant handball from the keeper.

In the final analysis, 3 points and a much needed rest for Jamie Murphy.

Donny had me flapping for large periods of the game

Thought they got around the back of us and through us all too often and with too much ease. Their midfield were a much better unit than ours

Thought Bash did his usual sterling job at the back with Beard as his wingman

Done and Davies did well up front

Thought Donny deserved something from the game

However, in summary..........................don't give a fk!

All that matters now are the 3 points

PS. Surprised Holt wasn't substituted tonight. Didn't think he offered much. Thought he was bullied

He actually said Done was not suites to wide left which us why he switched Davies there. Davies' criss for he second goal was superb. Also liked the changed to 4-4-2 to try and change things. Unfortunately Holt was too lightweight for that formation

I think if either side deserved to win, it was them with the chances and pressure they had at times. We were very lucky to only concede once in the second half, and also lucky that we had a lead when we did.

I think a draw would have been fair, as we scored good goals as well, but I wouldn't argue against a Donny fan feeling robbed.

The important thing is winning. It's a habit, and we seem to have developed the habit at just the right time.

Doncaster looked a very capable team and created lots of chances.

9 times out of 10 we wouldn't have won that match.

Yeah I heard him say that as well.

I think he thought Done would be wasted on the wing or something like that.

When Clough comes out after and says in his interview we were lucky to get all 3 points, need anything else be said? i've never heard him say it, then again i don't listen to many interviews.

I have not heard him say that before either.

Good teams have got to win games like this.goals are starting to come what a great game yeh they were unlucky but you get that feeling we are just starting to believe in ourselves done brilliant davis great goal the whole team giving us confidence just at the right time would have paid again to watch that game passion was there been missing most of season

Got to realise that Holt is the breaking midfielder not the holding. We had the same mid vs Crewe and it got over run. Baxter and Coutts are not a good combination as they both hide and lose possession too easily. Coutts still short of match fitness IMO after long injury lay off. Donny's goals both strikes from outside area which is the midfield responsibility to cut out.
Nice to see us out scoring the oppo and being on the front foot :) as opposed to trying to hang on to 1-0 and getting deeper and deeper and getting suckered. Davies (S) is making a big difference as Done has

Getting more confident now I can see goals in us :)

Felt sympathy for Donny who were impressive. That sympathy immediately evaporated when a Donny fan on Bramall lane said " I thought United were a good team"

What a way to open a random conversation. "Yea We were shit tonight mate. That's why we only scored 3"

Donny fan "fuck......" Something or other

Good win, and a slightly lucky one, but who gives a fuck? :)

More concerns about the midfield though. Tonight was the chalk to Saturday's cheese. All three central mids (Holt, Baxter and Coutts) were shite, for me. Donny repeatedly ran straight through.

If we had more center halves we could see more of Basham there, which I think we need.

UTB

Good questions. First thoughts (I reserve the right to change my mind in the morning):

4-3 to them would've been fair imo. They were wandering through us at will after Bob went off, especially down our left.

Luck evens itself out. We've been unlucky in a few games, tonight we got a few big slices back.

They seemed to be able to play the way we want to: cutting through us with pace and movement and imagination.

The penalty - Yes it was, but then so was the one from Baxter's volley in the first half. You give both or you give neither. That evened itself out.

Davies had an almighty game. Didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Coutts had a stinker - though may have done some things defensively.

I'll be interested to read others views.

I'll have to listen to the interview but me and Foulkes Jr Sr thought they'd played as a really good partnership switching wide left and up front. Davies was better on the left than Done though.

Thought we were brilliant until they scored, then when Harris went off the just targetted Freeman's flank and over run our powder puff midfield.

That said with Done and Davies we always had a threat. Great game and while we were a bit lucky, we made our own luck with that extra quality up front.

Again though, you cannot have that midfield three, either Doyle or Basham have to play there and I either think you play Baxter in the whole or not at all. Did not win a 50/50 in midfield until Doyle came on.

Full credit to Clough though, made some brilliant tactical changes that won it for us in the end.

For the first time this season I thought we were fortunate to win. Usually I have left the Lane feeling we have been hard done by when losing or drawing. So many times teams have had one real chance and scored. Barnsley at home, MK Dons come to mind and draws against Notts C, Walsall etc.. I thought it was going to be the same tonight when Donny scored from long range with virtually their first shot. Actually I thought Donny were by far the best team I have seen at the Lane all season - far better than MKD or Preston or Brizzle City in my view. They played great football with skill and pace. They played a similar style to that which we try yo play but did it with great pace which I feel we lack which makes us too predictable. Anyway we were due dome luck and the great thing is that we now have players in Done and Davis who can make and score goals in tight situations. We'll take the points thanks and not worry too much about anything else.

it was an entertaining win! realy enjoyed most of the game and even if we had drawn or lost id have still said the same, its nice to come out of game entertained, afterall that is what football is 'supposed' to be about.
And another plus point I think we have got 2 very good strikers in done and davies both where excellent today and linked up with eachother all day they where fantastic.
the one negative is coutts is back to his regular "nowt player" self again.1 decent game in about 10 cannot warrent u a place in a team!

Getting on the bus after the game the driver asked the guy in front of me who'd won, he said we did but we didn't deserve it !!!!
We scored 3 they scored 2 we won fair and square and it wasn't a 1-0 fluke either we scored 3 good goals and they only scored 2 what the hell is lucky about that ?
